https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P5RW0Tmp-U This guy does a fairly good job exposing the bs. He has been attacked for not being a meteorologist but he cites the statistics that are produced by the land and satellite readings. His credentials are actually quite solid. The "97%" reference has been debunked over and over again yet people still use this to make the point that all of the experts agree. That is not true. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexep...e-scientists-agree-is-100-wrong/#3ae061783f9f Read this.
Arch, Let's experiment and see if we can actually have a rational discussion without blowing up and calling people names. SISurfDog has an opinion and has been cool about it, no need to either get defensive or go on the attack. State your opinion and back it up with facts, not derision. When Funkus or someone comes on and tells you how poor uneducated and stupid you are, then game on. But everybody's been cool to this point so try not to be "that" guy.
+1! We don't need an agreement with anybody to be environmentally friendly. We all just need to do our part as individuals and businesses, which we are better today than we once were in this regard. Redistributing wealth from our country to others is a scam so they can weaken the USA while making others stronger. They want a level playing field. They don't want the USA to be the strongest country anymore. That's why they are upset Trump pulled out. They liked that deal for the above reason. Same reason the USA pays the most to NATO while others are paying .9% or less than 2% in most cases. It's another example of the world taking advantage of the USA. Plus, it's our military that's doing most of the fighting. We finally have a President who looks out for OUR interest for a change. The sooner people realize this the sooner we can began healing this Country and come together.
I agree with this statement 99%. I live in the clear cut capital of the world. Trees come back, it generally takes 70-80 years. That doesn't make it right, only pointing out my personal experience. I don't like it either, as a matter of fact I hate it. Weyerhaeuser and Rayonier have raped the piss out of this state, and the government needed to create a Spotted Owl condition to regulate those greedy bastards. FWIW, deforestation is the main contributor to landslides...the horrible Oso landslide from a few years ago being one of them. Very well put Heyduke
Yeah KR, thought my post might be taken as hostile. It's a misunderstanding. SissySurfCaulk just sounds funny nothing personal even though he's a self described Commie. While me calling out the crybabies was not directed at Sissy i did ask respectfully if he listened to Trump's speech? Does he know what the Paris Accord is except from all the "chicken Little" headlines. SurfDawg,my apologies. KR, suck caulk.
Yeah clear cutting is a problem. There needs to be more investment into hemp for sources of paper. But what about building materials? Do we go back to living in mud huts?
Honest questions - Which countries are we paying 10s of trillions to pay for their increased energy production? I would have thought it would be aimed at helping them develop cleaner production tech. Which countries have zero environmental regulations? Did the Paris Agreement actually require the U.S. to cut energy production? I thought countries set voluntary targets and that the targets were more aimed at cleaner sources and slowing the rates of growth.
160 countries are not bound by the Accord. China and India being two. And coincidentally China already tops the US as far as energy consumption. Under the agreement the US cuts 80% of coal production (US has tech for clean coal burning, water vapor and CO2) while India will double it's coal with no regulations. The US would fund 100's of billions to the Green Climate Fund which basically redistributes wealth to less, and our carbon tax would be 100 trillion over the next ten years. So where does all this money go? IDK? Ask Loenardo DiCaprio who flew all over on his private jet giving speeches about "The Sky Is Falling" all while The Green Climate Fund footed the bill. thanks for actually contributing to my/kr's comment rather then just posting about the paris accord. Living in mudhuts is a reality, research cob houses, or look up talking natural homes on facebook. There are a number of ways to reduce our lumber consumption. I agree with hemp 100%, but when does the harvesting and growing of hemp become a burden on the environment. Climate change will continue to happen at a faster rate as long as humans continue to overdevelop both physically and mentally
In the 80's "they" said we were moving into a new "ice age". Any of you remember that? The blizzard of '77 was so bad, there was a board game made. I was taught that the Sun controls our weather. The time it takes for a solar event to reach the Earths atmosphere etc,etc.... Granted we humans waste our natural resources, and our effect on our environments is horrible. But to think we have control is delusional. When mother earth wants us off her back, it will happen.
Dude, you were on a roll til that last sentence. Almost like it came from a different person. Did someone sneak up and add that when you weren't lookin?
Because the Paris Accord isn't about the climate! It's about dismantling the richest country on earth. Obama signed the US onto this agreement without congressional approval. Remember that guy Obama? "The US must forego some of it's sovereignties to ensure world peace.."
Hemp for newspaper? "Duude... This is some killer sh!t! What is it?" "That's the sports page, man" "Killer, dude"
I'm all too familiar with cobb houses as that will be the next home I build for myself when I move. I've researched it quite extensively and they are the strongest most energy efficient structures. But where is all that dirt gonna come from? You also do need cement to build em right which is an impact. No matter what we do humans will have an impact on the environment. And as far as your last sentence. Well (a) no proof that humans are the main reason for climate change, and (b) kill urself and your kids so the planet won't suffer.
A lot of homes in West Texas and New Mexico are still made out of adobe, which has been proven to be super efficient and sustainable. But that's not really the point. Wood is used for so many products, I suspect very few trees that are harvested are actually used in the building of stick homes. The point being that Wood Corporations tend to cut more than necessary, and haven't been proven to police themselves absent regulations. Just pure greed. recently read a book which shows that planting and reforestation didn't take place until the late 60's or early 70's, about the same time that a strong Ecology movement started putting pressure on many corporations. All I'm saying is that there needs to be some reasonable give-and-take compromises between the energy industry and the environmental watchdogs. Hubris and hysteria create allegations of "fake news" and the true problems get buried in lack of credibility.
