So Sis, what part of the Paris Accord do you think benefits the USA?
Curious, cuz it seems your buying into something based on belief and not fact.

well, since you believe in the 97% debunked number......

no if ands or buts, increased co2 is changing things, but what things? no one knows, anyone who says otherwise is a liar

should be good stewards? yes what does that entail exactly?

was the Paris accord actually going to accomplish anything? impossible to actually tell, anyone who says otherwise is a liar

and Kyle, you rent exactly bringing your strongest argument game here either

Elon Musk, while somewhat brilliant is being propped up by gvt subsidies, those 70K cars would be much much more, and really, who spends 70K on a car?!

its shell game, and you missed the mark

I was hoping we could keep it and ammend it to make it great, not flip the game board over, take our ball and go home. It's not binding, just a means for future cooperation on other issues.

I offer no apologies for my actions here.
I'm not here to win any hearts or increase approval ratings.
And I certainly have no time for people who tell humanity to merge with machines of become obsolete.

You do understand why he isn't making a profit, correct? Everything in the statement above is opinion, not facts. You are turning into the liberal media you despise...no concern for facts, just pushing your opinion.

If you look at how fast he is expanding his business, you know, building the 2nd biggest factory (worlds largest battery plant) in the world in Nevada (yes, using state subsidies they and many other states bidded to give him to build and create high end jobs in their state). Elon could turn a profit if he didn't believe a hyper-growth model is the only way to make a difference before he dies. Hyper-growth requires reinvestment in the business before dishing out dividends. Once again, you appear to have very little knowledge about Elon Musk or any of his companies; however, you do have a ton of awesome buzzwords and phrases that make you sound like you know what you're talking about (and even that is becoming more and more debatable based on your responses lately).

BTW, the ocean is a carbon sink, look it up. It means all the excess carbon emissions dissolve into the ocean, ultimately changing it's pH level to inhospitable for most pelagic life. We are getting closer to that point. So as surfers, It should be a concern, and we should be looking at non carbon burning forms of energy as alternative, IMO. The jobs would be created as others get phased out, and clean green energy is our future, whether the oil companies like it or not. They are already heavily investing in alternative fuel sources to ensure shareholder profit in the near and long term. That is a fact that is indisputable. China even more so.

And you're obviously not here to have an actual debate on issues.

At this point Archy, we got it....you are here to push your agenda and insult anyone that disagrees with you. I am usually pretty good at spotting a troll; but, I guess you fooled me, until now.

The pink vag hat was directed towards Betty who implied that denying the official claim somehow equates to vaccine conspiracy.

    No profit.
Beyond his business the guys an elite hypocritical douche canoe who thinks us lay people should be under stricter regulations all the while the guy prances around in a private jet.

I didn't read this while thread. First couple pages. I don't know what this Paris thing is. When it comes to this kind of thing or politics or whatever i trend to not pay attention. Its not that i don't care, I'm all for protecting the environment. But like DP stated early in this thread. It is what it is. So i don't have much to add. But i did have this. I believe it was KR who mentioned something about aircraft and there effects but how its never discussed. Reminded me of this ....

As some of you may know I'm in HVAC. EPA is heavily involved in refrigerant and how its to be handled. Certain refrigerants have been phased out due to it harming the ozone because of chlorine in the refrigerant. Well the EPA also has these rules about how bad a leak in a system has to be for you to be legally liable to repair it. Check this out. A residential system, which has less refrigerant therefore less damage to ozone, has to be repaired if its losing 30% of its refrigerant charge over whatever time span. A commercial system which has allot more refrigerant, therefore more damage, has to be losing 50% of its charge. So basically EPA has stricter rules on residential systems which have less damaging refrigerant then commercial which has more. If protecting the ozone was the main concern, you could clearly see how these regulations make absolutely zero sense. Yet there is no restrictions on pools or like KR mentioned.... aircraft. My boss owns 2 planes and a helicopter. From what i understand he can still get those phased out refrigerant because its used in his heli. Yet its been phased out for use in HVAC systems. Again, makes no sense if protecting the ozone is the main concern.

I don't know how this plays into the conversation you guys are having, if at all. But i figured I'd bring it up. Personal beliefs aside, it don't matter. It all comes down to money. Rules and regulations are manipulated to fit the needs of the wealthy. Big businesses. The guys flying in private jets and helicopters. That helicopter is fine. But your homes AC unit is destroying the ozone. Its a freaking joke

First off you never answered my question.
"What part of the Paris Accord do you think benefits the USA?"
Secondly Trump pulled out of the terms. He has offered a renegotiation.
Thirdly no one is disputing the need to ween off fossil fuels and the USA is the leader in the advancement in greener tech and also the leader in environmental safety practices.
So I don't really understand the blue pill angle to any arguments pertaining to environmental protection and Americas role and Trumps action regarding the Paris Accord.

I'm not sure how a private jet is your smoking gun...How do you want him to travel? commercial? That's really not much better. And driving a Tesla across the country just isn't efficient enough yet as far as time.

I am sure if an electric jet was feasible, he would build it and use it. Unfortunately, in our current state of technology, it is not.

And I'm not sure the description "elite hypocritical douche canoe" is a confirm-able fact...damn Archy, why are you so salty?

There was a point the Hudson was so toxic you could get seriously sick being in it or swallowing some of it. This was man made, factories were literally dumping sh!t In the river. I'm sure over time the earth would have corrected itself and the river would have come back on it's own but that sure doesn't help the health of the people who lived and relied on the river during the 70's. People realized the problem and corrected it and the Hudson came back. I think that is being a good steward. As far as the factories, I'm sure they survived.
And once again, no, I am not convinced about our effect on climate change,(and don't care about this whole Paris thing) but we can still sure fvck things up.

Yeah he could travel commercial. Us peons are urged to use public transit as opposed to our own car to lessen impact.
And why should he have to go across country. We have modern tech where business can be done anywhere anytime.
Why does he need 5 mansions in one neighborhood?
I'm not saying he doesn't deserve his wealth and jet setting lifestyle, but it is very hypocritical to tell everyone they need to curb their consumption while he lives an excessive lifestyle.

I figger that whatever it's doin, it's gonna keep doin it. Just do what makes sense and try to keep your yard clean, mow the lawn occasionally, and don't trash my beach.

All this dang global warmin stuff seems to me to be goin after other people's money.

Well, first off, when he was on Trump's committee, I doubt DT would let him skype in. Also, I doubt very many CEO that are also primary engineers are going to inspect possible product via telecoms. But I concede there is a point to be made regarding his travel; however, I would ask you, do you know his travel schedule? Can you say positively if he limits his private jet usage to as minimal as need or if he uses it for any bulls**t reason. I can not and would not speculate on something I can't say for certain.

He purchased 5 mansions in one neighborhood to showcase the new solar roof. All of those home are 100% off the grid. They have solar roof tiles and tesla power wall battery packs. He purchased these homes to show those in this country with A LOT of disposable income that it is feasible and cost-effective (if you have the initial cash to spend) to power their large homes using only the Sun. It is a business strategy, he isn't just having billionaire block party's every weekend in his own personal neighborhood.

This is and has been Tesla's business model since inception. Due to the high costs still of lithium ion battery packs (getting better every year and costs will diminish exponentially as he opens more Gigafactories), he only has one market to sell to, the luxury market. The same market Mr. Trump made his billions selling to selling 5-star hotels and golf courses (I live down the street from one, actually a pretty sweet course).

Archy, I'm not sure why you are chastising those that can afford Tesla products. You are a fan of capitalism, yes? I am not sure if you are aware, but us capitalists...well, we like to work hard and make our money to buy nice things and experience life a little before we croak. I know I am going to enjoy the hell out of my Model 3 when it gets delivered....fruits of my labor, my friend. So salty all the time.
