Yeah I realize, I like all of it, It's just kinda splitting hairs though. I like the Toasters and Pie Tasters too.
sorry, I can be a bit pedantic about this stuff. no worries. It's like saying RUSH is a heavy metal band.
I hear ya, and I wasn't being argumentative btw, I just like to simplify things, there are too many sub-categories in music. Like there use to be just "punk rock", now there's a hundred different kinds of punk lol It just gets ridiculous after a while.
I'm not really into Ska much. Operation Ivy are pretty cool though. I saw the Bosstones on TV a couple years back, I think on a late night show. Probably Jimmy Kimmel, where ****y Barrett is the announcer for the show. I remember they had one dude in the band who wasn't singing or playing an instrument, he was just dancing. And I thought it was pretty lame.
Their music is lame as hell. Music is presently looking for a direction. The "Golden Period or Rock" (Zeppelin, Allmans, Airplane, Dead, etc) is long gone. Feeble attempts (punk, hiphop, rap) to replace that have died in the gutter. Country sucks. Where do we go now?? Should be interesting to see......
O barry. You're like those old guys who thought popular music reached it's peak with the Benny Goodman orchestra.
Barry... you've got to get out of the full on commercial stuff. There is SOOO much good stuff out there right now. Jason Isbell (I know he's been around for a while) is probably the best thing going. But some of the alt-country stuff is really good. Sturgil Simpson and Chris Stapleton. Sorry to ruin the punk rock thing... but Isbell has it going on. If you don't like Isbell, or modern alt-country... you hate America, love the towlieban and should walk off something high, while high on meth.
Country is for queers and losers. Choosing music because you love or hate your country is lame as hell.....
It was a joke... Country is definitely for losers. I'll take Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings over Zeppelin and Cream though.
