good for you. you are lucky to have an employer who gives a shlt. not everybody does or is able to find one. walmart is a giant employer and gives few of its employees benefits like this. i will repeat though, while health care premiums went up for many under obamacare, premiums have been going up for as long as i can remember. nobody is addressing the ever escalating cost of medical care. we pay more in this country than most anywhere else and have lesser outcomes.

btw, not sure if you know this but the new republican bill removes the requirement that employers over a certain size cover their employees or else pay a penalty. meaning it's likely many employers will drop those benefits for employees.

Al Jazeera is a much better news organization than CNN. What you propose is an insult to Al Jazeera.

plenty of fear mongering and hysteria to go around. trump based his entire campaign on it from day one. mexican rapists. muslim terrorists. chinese currency manipulators. there's a boogeyman everywhere you turn in his world. always somebody to the finger at. and now with his whining about fake news all the time.

Its not always the poor. Consider this... if you didn't have health insurance and next week you get diagnosed with lymphoma. You don't have insurance because your company doesn't provide it anymore and the premiums are $700 p/m because you were born with a heart arrhythmia, which you couldn't afford, even making $50k a year. So... now you have this to look forward to: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16966264

Plus, all those programs you talk about are funded by taxes already... Where do you think the money for the "Many programs are in place in the city, county, state and Federal levels for people who fall into the poverty level to acquire all the basic necessities, such as food, medical and many other subsidies."?

I live in Palm Beach County, FL

And don't get so upset, I'm just taking an argument to it's extreme. Life is full of choices. It just makes sense to me to have some sort of safety net, to keep civil unrest down and the health care industry with it's well paying jobs healthy and growing, and accessible. It's a win for everyone.

Of course there are those who would like to gut the public skool system, and privatize the prisons, and make bank for their future generations of prison stock holders, all in the name of less government. Life is full of choices, and Blackwater is poised to be a huge industry for at least eight years.

They are all crooks, both sides. I just think the GOP are baiting the po folk into rioting as part of a plan to make money for their buddies who contribute big $$$ and own prisons. Call me naive. It doesn't look like eight years of peace and prosperity are right around the corner for most of Americans. It's Obamas fault.

Yeah, it is good for me isn't it? Took planning and hard work to find a decent employer. I suggest those at Walmart or any other company that doesn't take care of them, that they seek employment elsewhere, rather than blaming their circumstances. Nobody forces anybody to get a job anywhere, they volunteer and sign on the dotted line. So don't give me that crap. It's their choice. Don't like your situation, change it. Only ones I have sympathy for the physically unable to work people.

It's not the same thing. And we have stop judging terrorism by whether they are US citizens or not. You do realize that they began this war back on 9/11 and have been infiltrating our country every since via the immigration system, then they have kids or bring some with them, they are now citizens and turn into terrorists once radicalized. I posted a video not long ago of the guy who interrogated the mastermind for 9/11 and this is what he told him. There plan is unfolding before our eyes, don't you see it???

On to my other point. You can't sit back and wait for foreign terrorism to make it's way to our homeland. We have to be preventative and fight that fight over there so that we don't have to fight it here. He is and was 100% correct about terrorism and there is nothing anybody can say to make me think otherwise, and if you choose to think otherwise, fine, but don't say you weren't warned.

Let's not forget all of the mass shootings that happened on our soil recently. Inspired by ISIS.

And who do you think foots the bill for that? It is passed on through inflated prices to patients who have insurance, causing premiums to rise, and the cycle continues. Am I the only one old enough to remember that premiums were rising and people were having trouble affording healthcare before Obamacare was even voted on?

Obamacare has lots of flaws - and I'm saying that as a physician - but I also believe that it forced a correction to the system that was destined to happen eventually. It was either going to come at the expense of higher premiums in the short term, or as a larger blow to our economy as healthcare spending continued to spiral out of control...

We should have been way more aggro in the mid 90s. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Could be that health care in this nation is a permanent, and permanently broken, conundrum. Regardless of political affiliation / persuasion / wigged out humans.

meanwhile the way we are viewed around the world is declining.

    http://abcnews.go.com/US/us-favorability-trump-plummets-international-poll/story?id=48325718

...The Pew Research Center's survey spanned 37 countries and found that a median 22 percent of respondents expressed confidence in Trump to do the right thing in global affairs. That is down from 64 percent who had confidence in President Barack Obama during the final years of his presidency.

The wane in trust was particularly steep among some of America's staunchest allies in Europe and Asia, as well as neighboring Canada and Mexico.

Out of the 37 countries polled, Trump received higher marks than his predecessor in just two nations: Russia and Israel. Amid ongoing investigations into potential links between the Russian government and Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, the survey found that Russians' attitudes toward the United States have become more positive since Trump took office. ...

at least we are doing better with the russians.

This ^^ isn't 'news' dood. It's a lame survey, paid for by who, conducted by who, interviewed who....in short, about as valid as Bruce Jenner's t!tz.

RR was disliked by many nations, as was Jimmy Carter, as was W, as was LBJ, as was......yah....exactly....
