Grew up on the Chesapeake in southern MD.

Moved to inland NC for college on an athletic scholarship (mistake)

Transferred to a school in Chicago (interesting, but not for me)

Wilmington, NC (where I currently reside)

The Chesapeake gave me a strong love and respect for the water. Moving inland was a painful error that I won't make again. Now I live about 4 miles (as the crow flies) from the ocean. I have a solid career in Wilmington and quality of life is very high. The surf is fleeting but we have excellent skate parks, miles of empty beaches, undeveloped islands, and like 6 disc golf courses within 1/2 hour drive. Wilmington also has lots of dope addicts wandering around, retard frat people, a clearly defined but growing ghetto, and some of the worst drivers on earth. I'm pretty sure Wilmington's biggest industries are used car sales or self-storage units.

Best punk rock bar was some place on A1A in Hallandale Beach called Finders Lounge. A true skinhead infested pit, we'd drive down from Singer Island, refusing to wear the studded bracelets and doc martins and attire. We survived on surf/skate reflexes and total lack of fear.

Lived: Nor Cal (about an hour north of San Francisco), and Maui. I guess there's a couple more but those two are the long term (over a year) residencies.

What Thankful says. I've got friends in the biz there and they says there's not enough man power for work that I specialize in which is high end tile and mosaics.
If the universal basic income comes to fruition I can see myself setting my own price for work and never not working by choice.
The local gov is a con but co side ring the big picture it sure blows away the Jersey Shore.
