Heaviest beating I ever took in my life was on a little over head high wave there in April 2007.
Felt like I was body slammed onto concrete. Never have hit the bottom so hard ever. It was bone rattling.
I can't imagine the power at contest size.

Yup, unfortunately, he got hammered in first heat. Would have been nice to see a NYC guy win, I suppose.
I actually took the time to watch this thing while trading. My wife thinks I must have a high fever.....hahahaha!

The fact that he is even doing the things he's doing is extremely influential, him being from LI and all. I never met him. But think the guy is awesome. Kelly Slater being who he is and coming from Florida is cool too. But what skudin is doing is way more impressive in my opinion. You don't learn to surf waves like that around here. You got to go out and chase it down. Going from surfing the east coast to saying "you know what, I'm going to go surf mavs".... then doing it. Hats off to him.

everyone always forgets that slater did the big wave thing too lol.skudin bros are definitely awesome, but slater won the eddie, finished 2nd to flea at the biggest mavs contest on record where he almost died, surfed cortez, jaws, surfed todos, and a bunch of other places.i got respect for all big wave guys but cant deny slater his props lol

Your right. But when did Slater do any of that? Honest question because i really don't know. I'm assuming it was after he became pro and the east coast was no longer home. Skudin literally went from the east coast to mavs to fulfill a dream of being a big wave surfer.

I think late 80s early 90s,he was still a teenager.it all started when he was in Hawaii on his first visit and he became cool with brock little and shane dorian.he said his first real big wave experience was out at like 15' sunset beach and he took what appeared to be a horrific wipeout from the beach and he popped up in like 3 seconds and said hey that's not bad lol.

I think skudin started off at todos and eventually made his way to mavs.hes definitely a success story being that he made it on the big wave tour.i still got surf videos of certain people like will when they were teenagers and u can see the way he charged caine swells on the outer banks to know he was going to go on to do big things.plus hes probably the only real big wave surfer I ever spoke to and he was nice.
