I have a nice HPLB / Nose Rider that Greg Geiselman at Orion shaped for me that is pretty much what you describe. Maybe contact him or another shaper who's good w/LB's. They'll dial you up something suite.

 

Hey Nalu are you sure there is no rocker? I've seen a few and they are flat from the tip to about third of the way back then the rocker kicks up quite a bit. Between that and the belly bottom it should make the drop and turn from the tail really well. Even if you bury the nose you can ride out of it. Think about it. It was designed for hot dogging.

Went to a more traditional noserider myself and it took some getting used to. Realized I was a little too far up on the board when paddling when I stood up. Once I moved down I was taking off steeper than I was on a more HP long board with less paddling and making almost everthing. I was turning better too. Just a thought.

The board I was riding before that was a August What I Ride. Good all rounder right there.

 

Surfed a foamie a few weeks back (surprising given my name) which was the first time getting on a board (fiberglass or otherwise) over 6-6 in over a year. I thought it would be cake since I'm used to my 6-0 but damn thing took forever to get used to. Pearling city for sure. Yuck. I need to get a proper log for those knee high days too.

Right on man, you'll get exactly what you want that way and will cost you the same or less than off the rack. Plus it has your name written on it, which is suite.

Yeah man, you know what's up. I haven't ridden one of his SB's yet though like you, but considering it. It's hard for me to stray from Coil on my SB's though, we'll see what the future holds.

 

Although they have become the choice for kooks the Walden Magic Model is an excellent board for noseriding and performance surfing.

How much $$ are you looking to spend? You could always go to Greg Eavey, Will Allison, the guys at Savage Surfboards (SOD being one), Ian Balding and tell them exactly what you said here. Pardon me if I forgot anyone else who makes a good longboard around here. Although I've seen you surf that old Stewart well enough where I think you'd be able to adapt to the Weber pretty fair given some time.

 

I've never surfed a Coil, but am highly intrigued. My thinking is big wave fall = good wave step up for an old dude: 6'9" CI squash tail aboot 19.5 wide and 2.75 thick for the quickness.

My daughter's LB that I use now (my wife destroyed my HPLB - redhead rage) is made in Melbourne Beach by Eddie Suxberry -Mindless brand. It's real loose, lots of rocker, real easy to turn, and kind of heavy, so when it gets going it gets going and going. It can plow through some choppe and get back into the clean stuff and maintain speed.

It's too loose for a real good wave, I'd love to see what Greg does with his HPLB shapes. I'm sure they fly thru the gnar and can be ridden in all size surf.

 

Look into a Robert August if you want a proven shape. Or a Roy Stuart if you want to really be a style master. His shapes rule if you want to go from point A to point B in the most efficient way. You could mount a stripper pole on one of those beasts, and still have room for an EZ Chair with a rocket launcher with rod holders to catch some snapper one way or the other.

As for longboarts, I have fun on everything from an 8 foot soft top to a 11 foot glider. For "performance", which is relative given the conditions you can truly "perform" on a long board, I'd go with a Christenson... C-Bucket at 9'0"

 

You can try either one of my Coils if you're in the area. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy they paddle, catch waves, and best of all, perform. Same with my LB, you're welcome to test it out. It's an amazing ride, very nimble but not too loose if footwork is good.

Doing well despite not surfing all that much lately, only here and there this summer. Been bitten by the golf bug of all things, lol. But it sounds like you're chasing something fairly specific, and do have some cash to spend. Maybe check this out? https://wilmington.craigslist.org/spo/d/stewart-long-board/6219427148.html. Although it looks narrower than I remember that Stewart looking but I bet it's got a fair bit of rocker. If it were me in that situation though, I'd find a reputable board builder (local or otherwise) and articulate what it was I wanted in as much detail as possible. Life's too short to ride boards you don't like. Maybe just get another of the same Stewart?

I was just in one of our local surf shops (I was bored as hell) and they had a couple of Tudors--they look nicely made, but too tanky for me.
Maybe when I get old.........
