Every once in a while a sneaker would come through with a preview for tomorrow. I was out from just after first light till 9ish and it was still building with the incoming tide. Maybe see ya out there tonight/tomorrow a.m.
Nice! I am pretty amped. I'll def be there this evening, silver xterra with WRV sticker on side window. Can't make tomorrow morning.
Do not think it's a problem, 98% of East Coast surfers would not paddle out there once they see the rocks and boulders. It's already been blown up in Surfer Mag articles and videos. Actually is on the Cliff Walk in Newport and is sits on the front lawn of the Breakers Mansion. When it's double overhead the currents can be a ***** and a learning experience for surfers. Just want people to go see it when its actually breaking. Because of where it's situated, with deep water, the break can hold almost any swell the Atlantic can throw its way. Usually the lack of parking (won't tell you where to go, good luck), high quality of the locals surfing there and the paddle out make it unlike most beach breaks on the East Coast. Lots of guys/gals hope to go out, but decide not to. Of course you can go out when its waist to chest high, but when it gets to the double overhead+ range is when it shines and resembles the best point break spot on the East Coast. I appreciate your answer but I was totes joking about this being at all a secret spot. Really the internet has blown up most spots anyways in terms of location. As you note, parking is the real secret in most spots that are low access.
*uggles is one of those spots iv always dreamed about,a big wave on the eastcoast, probably will never surf it tho.i don't have the time and resources to chase swells like some people, would be awesome tho. it can get pretty big out in long island and that's a lot closer but usually when theres waves I just surf my normal spot in jersey, other states see the better half of it but its all good.u have to really track the storm and go out at the peak moment at the select spot while everywhere else is a washing machine so its definitely not easy
Can we just not talk about it? I mean, come on... is nothing sacred these days? Here's An idea; EVERYONEe go to Rugs. Stay out of Belmar!
Not to be buzz kill but I was very underwhelmed with what Gert delivered today. It was stomach high with consistent chest sets and the occasional shoulder high bomb. I felt like I was racing sections a lot and it was tough to get a good one. I surfed for 4 hours and maybe 90 minutes of my session was pretty fun. The tides were ok and the wind was light but it wasn't what I had hoped for. Lots of people out though!
The difference in chest high and shoulder high is a matter of inches unless you have saggy breasts. DQ 's words of wisdom...
