First, he isn't a "true boxer" per say. He's a mixed martial artist with boxing as his base. He didn't bring Paulie in to spar, he brought him in to kick his ass. Paulie was taking bad about him on camera and Conor wanted to prove a point and to get some good work in. The footage will be released after the fight hopefully. I want to see it. He has done actual sparring in addition to this deal with Paulie, but a more respectful type spar.

When this first started I was leaning toward Floyd but was pulling for Conor. The closer it's getting the more I'm starting to lean toward Conor. This guy is something different and I'm just not sure Floyd will handle his movement and power well. He doesn't fight like a boxer and so think that favors Conor. The distance and his ability to get in and out will be something Floyd hasn't dealt with before. It's not going to be a boxing match, it's gonna be a fight.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't know paulie or whatever video your talking about. I'm talking about his actual sparring to prepare for the fight. Not whatever it is your talking about.

And yes he's a mma guy not a boxer. But its a boxing match. So i fail to see your point. When boxers train to go 12 rounds in a boxing match, they do so as i mentioned. Connor is training for a boxing match, right? Or am i confused.

I got a football game this weekend, let me go practice my pitching

I'm all for Connor! He used to get on my nerves with his constant sheet talking, now I can't get enough of it. I literally just sat and watched about 30 minutes of him talking sheet on YouTube. The dude can fight

You don't know what I'm talking about because you're not following what's going on. The 12 round "sparring" you're talking about is the same thing that I'm talking about with Paulie. People call it a couple sparring sessions but in reality they didn't just spar, they fought. Conor had ref Cortez come in and make it as real as a fight as he could, to get use to a boxing ref and fighting under boxing rules. He wanted to simulate a boxing fight in addition to embarrass Paulie for talking crap.

That's possible. You are right im not following it. But the guys i saw talking about it was sonen and some boxing guy who's name i can't remember. They were commenting specifically on Connors statement about being prepared to go 12 rounds at a high pace. I feel these guys would be able to differentiate between normal sparring and what your talking about. But again, its just what i heard and im not following so who knows. Maybe they were just stirring the pot. Guess it doesn't matter. We will soon find out.

Wasn't planning on watching at all, but heading to a buddies tonight to hang and he's renting it. So i guess I'm watching it.

It's not only possible, it's the truth. I'm a fight junkie, I haven't missed a single moment for the build up of this fight lol I need another hobby or something haha! That's cool you're going to see the fight. It's going to be interesting to see how the styles match up. When I said it won't be a boxing match, what I mean is...

Conor won't try and out box Floyd, he's just going to do what he does and beat him with well timed bombs. Floyd won't try to exchange with him I don't think, not in the early rounds at least. I see Floyd doing what he does, running, ducking, dodging, hugging, and counter punching and popping the jab to keep him at bay. I think Conor walks him down and sets up the big shot eventually, maybe clip him with a counter of his own and finish with a flurry of strikes.

Do you actually know the details of his training though? Hype and media is one thing, what's going on behind the scenes is another. Like i said, the dudes i heard talking about it are respected fighters in both mma/boxing. Bringing a guy in to have a mach fight and sparring are two very diffrent things. Hearing it from those guys i assumed they meant actual sparring. Again, i could be totally wrong on that. I just felt like they'd know and respect the difference.

Now i am actually really curious.

By the way, the boxing gut said somthing that really made allot of sense that ill mention here. Maybe turn the conversation from predictions to thoughts on this.

Now I'm not saying i agree or disagree. And ill paraphrase here. He said Connor only wins one of two ways. One is he cheats and gets DQd, but because he's good at marketing himself, even after all the fines he'd still come out on top. I'm not saying i think Connor would cheat, but the point about marketing and using this fight as a platform to make more money does make sense. The second point he made, which is a more realistic point, is of Connor survives, goes to decision, and loses.... He still wins. And boxing loses. It was a good point. Since he's not the boxer, just making it 12 rounds is a success in terms of a mma vs boxing guy. And would most likely hurt the sport of boxing considerably.

Again, not my thoughts though i agree with parts of his first point and completely agree with his second point. It was an interesting view considering the circumstances (not boxer vs boxer). Not so much about the individual wining or losing, but more about the effect it has on the credibility of the sport and the sport as a whole.

Obviously I wasn't there so I'm taking other people's word for it. It could just be hype to sell the fight, or it could the truth. Everything that has come out from various people who were there has been consistent. I think the term sparring has been used by most everybody, including me, because they were wearing head gear. Paulie works for Showtime btw, he'll be one of the analysts or color commentator during the fight, so I'm sure a lot of the drama from Paulie is to help sell the fight.

Dana said he'll release all 12 rounds of footage from both "sparring" sessions after the fight. Paulie has been called out for lying about what happened, because they say Conor embarrassed him. Paulie is trying to save face to the boxing community. He claims he won 10 of 12 rounds in the 2nd spar / fight. He claims the leaked footage is BS but what I saw was Conor mauling him.

Yes Paulie retired not long ago and yes he wasn't in fight camp training already so he wasn't in great shape, and yes he isn't Floyd, but Paulie was saying Conor didn't belong in a boxing ring, that he couldn't scare anybody in a boxing ring, saying he won't land a glove and the camera man could beat him and all this junk. So Conor made him eat his words.

149 1/2lbs-150lbs. The weight limit was 154lbs, so he's pretty much at where he's gonna be, maybe an extra pound or two but doubt he'll be 154lbs or higher.
