Hypocrite! Wouldn't getting a ... lost go against everything you have ever preached on here? Just get a custom with similar dims and outline and rocker and yada yada yada.... ya freaking moron
I chose "wider board" given my age. Not sure yet if it is the right board for me--they would however make me a 7'4" or any length I choose.
I've heard good things about the wider board. I have a Flashback Fish and the M-80. Do you want a similar shape to what's already in your Quiver? You like the gunny and pin tail shapes right?
For you I would go smooth. I have one with kick and one with smooth, love em both. I figure you're probably more of a pureist or traditional guy so the kick might be weird to you, but hey, maybe I'm wrong about that. Can't really go wrong. What I like about kick is how light it is, how easy it waxes, the added grip, and the added strength. What I don't like is how it seems harder to keep the board clean, it seems to hold oils and grime more than the smooth. But it's not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. Stripping the board of wax can be a pain in those little dimples. Other than that, it's awesome.
I like the guy who sits outside on the 2-3' day and starts paddling when there is no apparent set wave coming... and then there isn't. But man, is this guy ready if a bigger wave ever were to come through.
Lol I remember when I was learning being in the wrong spot all the time. Sometime you just start paddling and hope something good happens haha. But man was it life changing when I found myself in the right spot more times than not.
Starting out, I remember thinking surfing was crazy exhausting mostly because I was always paddling furiously in the wrong spot for the wrong waves.
Yeah man, I remember getting gassed on the paddle out. Putting way too much effort into paddling, poor technique, horrible breathing, etc.
