Hang in there guys! I'm already being kept up because of a couple of stubborn Florida Gulf Coast friends, who have refused to evacuate.
Hurricane has not turned north yet--still going northwest, and it has passed the tip of Florida. Going into the Gulf still.... edit--turned somewhat north now. Good luck.
Lost power a little while ago aboot five minutes after I turned on the coffee maker so it made aboot a cup. Sitting on the back porch watching the show as long as we can. TS winds with maybe hurricane gusts. We've got a ways to go.
This thing been kicking off a lot of tornadoes. Especially to the north. Be careful. Wind has been east but I think it's starting to turn more south. Eventually we'll have to abandon the back patio and go out front. Just like in Wilma.
I basically jumped straight off the plane from a good surf trip and straight into some incredible waves via Irma. Hope everyone in Florida is pulling through but the surf here has been incredible for 3 straight days.
Over 10 in. of rain so far and it's just the beginning, still have power, but flickering on and off. I have about 6 in. of water covering my road, I imagine I'll be stuck here even after it stops raining. I'll see the brunt of the storm around 6 or 7 this evening.....that's all for now folks.
And just like that it's over.. for a few min at least. Ok we're in full swing now. Nasty rain band coming through.
We're in the main TS wind field. Constant wind and a background roar like a jet engine in the distance. Frequent very strong gusts. Just heard a transformer blow so somebody nearby had power until now.
More tornado warnings, running out of beer, I thought I bought more than this. Wife just went across the street to the corner store to see if he's open. Indian guy who rarely closes shop. Rain and wind comes and goes but more and more frequent. Street has minor flooding but nothing serious yet. Lake is filling up but not bad yet.
I been watching live on the weather channel, looking like its going to get pretty sketchy over the next 12 hours.a crane already collapsed.. and anyone see that footage from the Bahamas or Bermuda where the tide completely went out as far as the eye can see
I saw the Bahamas footage. All that water is gonna pile up in Miami. The same thing happens in the OBX with a good blow. The water will drain from one end of the sound and flood the other end.
Atlanta prepping for tropical storm tomorrow. Did a water run at SAMS, which was doing a brisk supply business. Taking in balcony furniture. Hoping don't lose power as we are on the 14 th. Floor. Ironic if it's worse here than FL east coast. Good news on Miami dudes! I also see good waves mid week, and then blown out 10' waves--Jose?
