In General, VB blows; limited number of sand bars, pay to park, stink-eye mixed goober crowds with bad attitudes. But I want to be positive today, so name one good thing about your break.
    I'll start:

    VB is great for beginners.

We got 2 breaks within a half mile of each other, both of which break on completely different tides, swells and winds.

Generally if one isn't working, the other one is.

Delmarva: Due to all of the jetties, inlets, offshore banks, and variety of sand grain sizes, there are a variety of waves ranging from soft rolling lines to a-framing barrels in a 30 mile stretch of coast. The negatives would be a much longer list.

Pros: No crowds, no lifeguards, no beach tags ( a big deal in NJ), chill vibe, good healthy sandbar.
Cons: No thongs, wave not as good as OCNJ, dolphins have sex on the sandbar.

We are only two hours from Brevard County, that is the main best thing. LOL

The water is warm, and we have a good variety of breaks from reefs to jetties to pier to beachies in Northern Palm Beaches. Good surf culture, smoking hot women, chill lifeguarddes. Lots of beach access, many county parks with restrooms, showers, usually no ripoffs in the parking lots. Made me a lazy surfer.

I rarely travel anywhere nowadays, my wife is so nervous on the roads, she makes a trip to the local beach an adventure, to say the least.

Pro: can drive to three totally different exposures within about an hour
Con: all at least 45 minutes away.
Bonus con: seaweed was out of control this summer.

The Brazzos suck down here too, but luckily they are embedded further south, in Deerfield. I hear when it breaks there it's like Mad Max Thuderdome.

A few cons: Sharks, lots of spinners may get bit, quite a few bulls, tigers and lemons, might get et.

Also crowded at the best spots, and my local has degraded due to way too much sand.

Biggest con: long flat spells, short magic period when tide, swell and wind co-operate

Generally a relaxed vibe in the mornings. Lots of cool old dudes who have been around the block a few times to share waves with. Can often find a peak to yourself or just a few people. This is true for most of LI but I'm talking specifically in my stomping ground.... there's a point like set up, and 3 beaches all within a 10 or 15 minute drive from each other. All offering somthing diffrent, making the varying tides easy to manage.

    Dam Neck (VB).
On a Navy base, so free parking and no crowd problems. Folks there are friendly, helpful and respectful.

There's never a shortage of ''Surfable'' breaks in the area. Some of them aren't working whenever it's firing, but when it is, there's always some spot working within a short drive. I do quite enjoy Southern Monmouth (where I live) and Northern Ocean. I also really enjoy LBI, Absecon Island breaks, as well as Cape May, which is great when it's breaking. All of those are at least an hour drive, if not closer to 2 hours.

Cons: Manasquan Inlet particularly, is crowded with floaters during the Summer. These are people who take out their bort's on a flat day in the Summer, using the inlet beach, as it's the surf regulated beach when lifeguards are on duty. It's really the only spot you wanna surf in Manasquan, unless you're a beginner and just learning. We used to take the nephews to Riddle Way when they were young and just learning.

    Outer Banks

Pros: Exposed to a variety of swell directions, plenty of peaks if you look for them

Cons: VA Beach surfers with cellphones who call all their boys to a spot you are surfing.
VA Beach surfers taking selfie pics for Instagram and Facebook at the spot you are surfing.
VA Beach surfers who arrive with their surf posse to your break...look for that one guy, ya know..the "Bohdi"
VA Beach surfers who aren't used to surf, and are afraid to drop in to chest high waves, they paddle and conveniently "miss it".
VA Beach surfers who move here for the summer.
VA Beach surfers who ride around looking for local vehicles along the road or beach accesses during off-season.
VA Beach surfers with the "Virginia has no waves" stickers on their Subaru Foresters or Honda Civics.
That and all the heroin down here

^I've surfed a pretty long time and moved around a lot, I can tell you that people are people and you can sub "location here' for 'VA'
For Perspective and by no means am I defending VB/VA because I've seen some wackiness in the fours years I've been here:
Insta and FB are more like taking old Poloroids (memory makers).
We were all groms once, by the time we're married with families, we may be lucky to have one good bud to surf with.
Even the best surfers miss waves now and then.
There are more people that move away from NC for career opportunities than move to.
I've lived on/at/close to beaches and supported myself on bartips from tourists for many years before and during college and had great trips and nice quiver builder.
Beach access is a 1st Word Problem, just go south of Jupiter, privatization is scummy.
    And Last:::
yep, there's approximately 94 miles of coast from the VA/NC (Corolla) state line to Cape Point it is possible to find less crowded sand bars. Kinda hypocritical to pull up to any spot that is documented as getting heavy crowds, paddling in to said crowd and saying "it's crowded."
Maybe RV could modify the sticker to say Virginia has crappy waves and the heart could be a poop emojii. Last:
Subarus and Hondas make great vehicles.
