Nice! Wish the swell had come about a week ago. Was in SD all of thanksgiving week, surfed a decent bit but don't think I saw a wave much over waist high the whole week. Maybe a little bigger at high tide with backwash. Woulda been a hell of a lot more fun with waves like today. Side note: Not zaGaffer (if you're still around and haven't been banned, never know round here these days), not sure if you're getting my PMs or not cause this site confuses the **** out of me, sorry I never hit you up... inlaws, family obligations, other poor excuses, blah blah blah... will be in touch for sure next time I'm out there. Unfortunately not gonna be moving out there anytime soon, wife is still 100% anti southern california for reasons she's never clearly articulated. No worries, life is pretty damn goode here in jersey these days. Got home late last Friday, scored a fun dawn patrol session Saturday morning. Leftovers vs. the day before but still some chest high sets coming through. Jersey waves seemed extra steep and powerful after a week of knee-high socal longboard waves. Lake atlantic ever since, and no waves in the forecast. Good thing ski season is upon us, headed up to killington tomorrow.
You sound like a total deushe. Lol. Sorry to hear about the family ****, hope it improves soon and you get enough waves in the meantime to get through it.
The lifeguard applauded you because nobody knows douchery better than a lifeguard lol Hope the family **** clears up, family **** is the worst kind of ****.
two hours taken off work in the evening were two hours well spent in the water. after a nice morning DP session at the home break, i scooted down to the washout with an amigo. the usual crowded spots were there, found a couple pockets and really didn't have to bargain on waves with anyone for the rest of the session. playful chest hi and very rare head hi waves were abound, made sure i was in it so i brought the 7'2" hog molly. just riding down the walls with a few carves, easy paddleout and great sunset. switched the boards around with the amigo who took my NSP 7'6". grilled some sweet thai chili wings (love dat sauce) and threw back some sweetwaters, my night was settled by 9. hoping for some kinda leftovers over the wknd, maybe a beach day in there if i get lucky
This morning I got to the beach before sunrise. It was still deep since it was coming off high tide. As I’m checking it from the stairs I see a couple doing what looked like engagement photos. First off, this beach is probably the smallest beach in Brevard and at high tide, the water goes all the way to the dune line and the stairs. So they picked the wrong beach. Anyways, I watched this guy in his suit walking around in wet sand that was soft as he sunk in with every step, he then proceeded to draw a heart in the sand with a 2x4 so they could take a picture with it. Well, as luck would have it, the water rushed in and ruined his poorly drawn heart. I couldn’t help but laugh, and loudly. It was just too good of a way to start my morning. Then to top it off the water rushed in again and got them all wet as they ran for dunes. What a complete sh*t show! Hahaha I continued to watch the water as the tide started to show signs of improvement. I hurried to grab my boart and made my way to the water. As I’m about to paddle out I hear off in the distance “Hey! Heeeey! Hey!” I turned and looked and the guy is holding his hands up like wtf and the photographer is holding his camera up lol oh boy, what an asshole I am, so I turned and held my hand up as to say my bad and started walking further down out of his shot and then saw the dude making that asshole face and motioning with his hands some more so I yelled to him that there is another beach just North of here that has a lot for more sand on it and pointed to the North, he said what? I said “there’s another beach just up the road, you should go there!” And I pointed up the beach again. I then proceeded to paddle out right there and when I got to the lineup I turned and held my middle finger up to check the wind direction. It was NNW and making things slightly bumpy. The tide started to back out and the waves began to break in the waist high range and within an hour it was closer to chest high. They soon left and were nowhere to be seen when I was done. I rode the fish and got some decent rides but the lines weren’t as long as I would have liked. Still good times though, almost too good.
Yup... I feel like this week was the start of the winter flat spells.. those weeks of west wind, ocean completely flat.. Bummer...
It's been basically flat here all week. Doing more running in the AM and trips to the gym after work.
This morning was fun on the LB. I waited for the mid - low outgoing tide which worked out. Lots of waves, waist - chest, semi clean with a slight bump from the light NNW / N / NNE wind. I had the place to myself much of the morning. A couple others paddled out down the beach but that’s about it. Water was warm, still in trunks. Life is good.
Another day of waist - chest waves, a little cleaner and longer lines today which made riding the LB a good time.
Did anyone try surfing tonight with the full moon today? Apparently it is a "super moon" and around 20% brighter than normal.
Not last night. I always felt that just getting out there with the moon on the water, waves or not, is a treat in itself.
The moon was awesome last night, and this morning... and there was a fun little swell pumping in early am today. Too bad I was on my way to work...
So last night, SI forecasted waist high, no wind....potentially nice surf day. I put my board on car, gear in car. Got up this morning, drove to beach--surf was knee high, choppy with wind on it..crappy at best. Plus it was 25*F air temp. Got back into my car...."pulled a Barry". SI....your forecasts always have sucked; always will.
Got off work this afternoon and figured the forecast for a little swell today was most likely a cruel joke, or if there was any swell it would be accompanied by onshore wind, as we've been in a 10 day flat spell. Pleasant surprise...no wind to speak of, and long lines of waist high swell. Scored on the mini simmons for a while, shot a few pics around 5 p.m. Typical little set wave...the swell seemed like it had some longer period to it.
