Not human feces you sick bastids.
I got that Stage zero melanoma on my right cheek. I think it's called ensnufulufogous. Now, I have to go over to U of Penn to do something called MOHS surgery. I COULD Google it, but I know this is the premier medical advise site. I've had numerous lesions taken off my shoulders but never my face. Oh my face! My pretty, pretty face!
I know we have other skin cancer treads but I like redundancy.
Anyone ever have this done on their face? How long out of the water afterwards? How to prevent a return? I can't wear a shirt on my face. I've been really good with the ole SPF fity on my face but the damage is done. Does this mean I have to get out of the water every 20 minutes to re-apply? hit me wit knowledge lads. Thanks.

    Sorry to hear this CC.
First, you need to stop going to dermatologists. They are scalpel happy and will cut any abnormality off your body for a biopsy.
Second, depending on how deep and long the incision they give you will leave scar tissue that will be swollen for years.
All the precautionary steps we take to protect us from the sun means nothing. Sun protective clothing, SPFs whatever's are all marketing ploys for sheeple.
Now, I'm not saying melanomas don't exist and that they don't kill if left untreated but we also need to understand that 99% of the population will have some kind of cancerous growths in there lifetime.
I'm more concerned these days with what's in my body than what's on it.
Your doing the right thing. Get it taken care of and keep us posted. Hopefully with gods good graces you will grow old and your skin will leather and wrinkle and give you that distinguished look of an aged shreddah!

I would try smashing a lit cigarette into the spot. I read on the internet that face thingys hate cigs and fire so its def true.

Who is doing the surgery?? Dermatologist or plastic surgeon??
Advice--make sure it is a plastic surgeon, and not because of cosmetics (we know you are ugly from birth..lol), but because they are be mo' betta at this stuff. just opinion.
Sounds as if it was caught early; that be good.
Oh...and if the plastic surgeon is a hot Asian chick, don't stare at her titties. Remember-SHE is holding the scapel!!

btw--stage 0 is localized, has not spread. It is intraepithelial (in between surface layers) so it is easy to get. Surgeons are more better insuring getting out to the "surgical margins" than pimple doctors.

Yeah fer sure nothing a little DIY cauterizing wouldn't cure

In the absence of lit cigarettes, a soldering iron is always good.

O Barry, it's a Plastic surgeon but I like Head High and the Kid's ideas too. All bets are off if it's an Asian girlie. I may need to burn lil Chavez with a lit cigarette to keep him calmed down.
Thanks DQ, I'm already leathered, just waiting on wrinkles.
    Get yourself checked out DP.

I have had melanoma twice, both times on the back. It will be all about getting the margins (meaning they will take a hunk). Plastic surgeon will do u right.

There is nothing to lose by going. Some of my favorite times have been at the derm. Once they did a mole map on me. Two ladies standing over me taking photos while I was nekkid.

I've had a few precancerous moles removed from my back and forehead over the past several years. It's good having a wife to spot these things and keeping after you to do something about them.

I can say with 100% confidence I would be dead if my wife didn't talk me into going,

Sorry to hear, dude! Hope you get better!:D

Unfortunately, a lot of us are probably at a greater risk to this, from all the hours logged in the water at daylight. I put on unhealthy levels of sunscreen, no matter the time of year or if it’s sunny out or not. I’ve occasionally let it slide if I’m going out only an hour or so before sunset and the UV isn’t terribly high.

I’ve had this weird mole on ankle for close to 30 probably. I remember my ex-girlfriend from my early-mid 20’s telling me to get it checked out then and I know I had it at least a year before meeting her.

I had a bunch of crap cut off my face a few years ago... It looked like somebody attacked me with an ice pick.
    I got better...

This is all shocking bad advice - skin cancer can easily be treated but can also easily kill you if untreated and it spreads. Prevention and early treatment are pretty easy. You don't have to only surf at night like Johnny Utah, just get yourself checked and use good sunblock and/or a hat.

    Damage Done

Do not mess around with this type of cancer, the damage was done years ago. Before we started taking sun exposure seriously. But the best advise for after surgery is to use some type of zinc based sunscreen. But do not wait, get it done asap, this crap spreads like wildfire. I do the dema dip every two years and I have the wife check me over often, especially between the toes!
Water Magnifies the sun rays, your feet tend to be the most exposed along with your face.
I would rather have a nasty scar, then be a corpse.

    Good Luck!

Glad you made out Ok dude. They said something about a centimeter margin around the area. I'm not worried about the scar, I'm already pretty damn ugly to begin with!
