You had me right up until the don't urinate part. Peeing in wetsuits is one of life's greatest pleasures. I factor the pee decay rate into my wetsuit budget.

Actually- in the long run, peeing in your suit early on will end up getting you colder quicker... it warms you up quickly but all the extra water stays in and gets colder quicker then normal... it's best to wait, but then you get out and have fresh pee in your suit... lol
I'm guilty myself- sometimes the waves are so good and as I'm suiting up and waxing and about to paddle out - I gotta pee from excitement like a kid or something lol so you know that puddle in the parking lot?? I wouldn't step in it...

For the most part, gloves usually only last 2 seasons... but boots have lasted me years and years... but I do feel your pain.... it ain't cheap. I have seen some of the dive equipment you mentioned, and I wood say that's it's not worth it. For two reasons:
    1. They arnt made for surfing. And they will leak. And you may not have as great grip on your board. And the ones that have a harder bottom could leave more pressure dings on your deck.
    2. I would suggest that you can find major surf brand gear for cheaper then dive gear- if your smart about it. Meaning- you gotta start shopping for next Years gear- now! And over summer when all the shops discount it. And look at the many discount surf website... sign up for their emails and you'll get discounts via email from time to time, like 30% off. I wouldn't (and havnt) paid more then 45 for a pair of 6/7 mil boots - named brand, currently have xcel. And 20-30 for gloves. You just gotta time it out and buy on sale.

Might I also suggest maybe try a size larger boot if your having so much trouble taking them off that your tearing them?

Also- an amazing trick to getting your boots on/off easy, spread a small amount of hair shampoo over your heal... works like a charm and keeps the boots smelling better

Dude really funny story about a parking lot pee puddle . I posted it on here a long time ago. I'm I LB, suiting up and i gotta pee bad. I took a quick look around and no one was around so i start peeing in my suit. This guy comes out of no where and asks if i got a fin key or wax or something. This was such a hard pee i couldn't move. So without moving my lower body i awkwardly reach into the truck and hand him whatever it was he asked for. As i hand it to him he just looks down as pee is dripping out the leg of my suit and forming a puddle. He hands whatever it was back to me and just leaves.

Do people turn their gloves all the way inside-out to dry them? I've never had to before, but I have a new pair that refuses to dry on the inside so I started turning them inside out. Will this make them fall apart / leak much sooner?

Yeah they'll get effed up quicker.

Stuff never dries out here, so I picked up a boot/glove dryer for under $50. And, it eliminates the smell that happens when stuff doesn't dry. Check it out, you'll be glad you did.
