Coincidental with WSLs promotions, I have noticed Surfline has been writing and doing spreads on "new" surf stars as they see them. Because the Slaters, Fannings, etc, are pretty much done, there are few "stars" worthy of clicks on ads, etc. So Surfline has embarked on finding and promoting new kids to follow. Basically they are trying to either expand their market (please note the recent barrage of East Coast articles, Caribbean articles, etc) or stop their present market from drastic decline due to absent heroes. Clothing companies require clicks on ads.
It's all about the money; nothing else. Same for WSL. The American Way.

 

You're right about the money, BC... Maybe that's why they're doing it... to get more people to GO to the events, instead of watch them on their devices. They'll sell more sh!t to people if they show up.

 

Maybe this electronic age living ain't all it's cracked up to be.

I heard on the radio that this is actually happening. I forget what state it was. Rhode island maybe?
