Similarly I bought a Bear mattress online a month or two back. As mentioned previously, I tried to do research on them and came to the conclusion that all the reviews are baked and ended up using Facebook complaints on different mfg pages to gauge real world opinions. The mattress is just okay. It's a lot more firm than I was expecting, but my wife likes it so its staying. We had an ancient queen spring mattress before this with a memory foam topper and honestly it's been a pretty similar experience thus far. But - for $750 I figure if we get 5 years out of it we can always try a different one down the road and move this into a different room. What a crock of an industry though, I honestly had a better experience car shopping.
I stole a mattress from my parent's neighbor once. We had a shack in the woods where we used to party when I was a young lad of 15 or so. We'd get drunk and high and pass out on the ground. My parent's neighbors went to Acapulco for like 3 weeks. They left their back door literally wide open. So after the usual shenanigans (sniffing the wife's panties, she was hot, drinking their booze, crapping in their toilet and not flushing) I thought we could use their mattress for our shack. We walked it right out of there and down to the woods. Of course, after the first party, it was ruined. Smelled like piss and vomit. Those people never said anything about the theft. Never called the cops. They were shady too so they had no recourse.

Hmmm interesting, never knew that njsurfer30 was a mattress salesman... all this time and i thought he was just some surfer dude. So do you offer discounts to guys from swellinfo?

I had a couple of those when I was super poor (as opposed to just poor, like now.) Cheap and pretty comfy... when you are young...
I dunno on the whole "bed in a box" thing. It's still a fairly recent phenomena so return sample sizes are skewed. Imho if a mattress doesn't last 10 years then it's probably not a very good mattress.
Surf Mats have gone high tech that is for sure... and more expensive. No longer do ya ride a cheapo WalMart or BeachMart toy surf mat. Same reason you don't shop there for your high tech foot surfing board. And there are likely only 3 major surf mat builders in the world: UK, Central Calif and Australia.
I knew the 4th Gear Flyer was pretty much the pinnacle craft of prone riders, but I had no idea the stuff they've been doing with them lately until reading your post and doing an #inquiry. Cool stuff
