With the amount of planned wave pools around the world you think they”ll ever have an exclusive wave pool tour?
It could generate 10 times the money of any ocean event, and money IS what makes the world go round

Fingers crossed that this happens. People will start going inland to surf. Mass exodus from the coast. Empty lineups. Empty beaches. Open parking spots in WB at 1 in the afternoon....

I know, that last one is just unrealistic.

This is the lady in charge of the WSLs plan.

Pay per view and events where you can charge $180/day

    Fuck her.

Yeah, wave pools will be like golf courses where only the elite will have memberships and the bourgeoisie (us) will grunt it out in polluted knee high slop.

So crazy..... I’d much rather surf the ocean.. hope it gets some of the rich entitled jerks out of the lineup. If they start building pools all over surfing might turn into snowboarding with way more decent surfers in the lineup because they can consistently practice. This means harder to get waves on good days. Maybe they won’t learn how to duckdive and paddle out though...

I’d rather grunt it out in knee high slop on an empty beach near me.

I remember when cocaine was a ghetto drug.

Then it got super popular and trendy and expensive.

Now it's all cheap and ghetto again.

I surfed the Crystal Pier last Friday and hooked up with a friend/boat on WB Sat/Sun....traffic and parking was already out of control.

u know I heard something about them running a contest at slaters wave pool and thought wow that's lame, and today I'm on Instagram and I see a live video from strider wasilewski and its at the wave pool lol and first wave I seen I believe it was slater, and he did work on that thing.that's all I watched....

but it got me thinking u know running where every wave is damn near identical there could possibly be some epic battles going on.its not like where one dude gets a 10 and then it goes flat and other guy cant make a comeback.would be cool if the wave was bigger, but it might not be so bad.

so whats the lag time between sets like 5 minutes ??
if it is that long wtf we going to have to listen to strider breakdown or cotes version. that will suck.

not me...being perfectly honest here: if i had the cash and the access, id rather go surf machine-like chest high barreling peelers in a park with 4 of my friends than knee high slop in the ocean with nobody around.

If I didn’t surf as much as I do I may agree with you, but since I get plenty of water time I just don’t see the need for it, since most days are not knee high slop. My point was that it’s not the same as being in the ocean, regardless of size or quality. It’s the difference of being surrounded by nature in a giant salty ocean vs. being in a small chlorinated controlled pool environment with no wild life or nature. Sure, I would surf the damn thing if I was invited or whatever, but it’s not really a money thing for me.

Shhhhhhh!! Man, don't say that too loud; moronic herd might actually hear you and start a stampede to the ocean......

I think we should put some "vibrio cholera" in the water....thats the bug that gives people cholera, a water borne disease, and the worse of the three dysenteries. Make the water be like the Ganges river.......

I actually watched a video of what i believe to be two average joes surfing the pool. Think they won a contest or something. And they break down the experience. I don't remember the exact time but i actually think it's longer than 5minutes. 10-15 maybe? They were saying how it was actually really nerve racking because you wait and wait and wait, then there's a loud buzzer which is like a one minute countdown. And if you goof the take off or the first turn or whatever.... you lose the wave and your buddies inside of you get to try and snag it

yep..the ocean around here has just been full of life the past few weeks as the air and water temperature are rising and things are on the move. been surfing a lot in the morning before work and the sessions have been magic with the spring time conditions. You wont see this in the wave pool:
