Jesus, this is still going on?

Nice to see that some things never change.

"I listen to more obscure bands than y'all, which makes me unique and cool. So tuck into that."

I'm totally into the You Tube celebrities these days.

Have you guys seen me on Nub TV? I totally shred, dudes. I got this barrel at Cedar's the other year. It made the news and sheet. Everybody loves me within two miles of the coastline. I need to surf Camden some day to let those further inland know how special I am.

Man, if I see one more video of some mf'er pontificating while driving...

You know, I told that NUB guy years ago that his Jackass routine paled in comparison to others. His crew just wasn't that charismatic. Told that dude to stick to surfing vids...

And that's what he did. The craka didn't even through, or throw, me an eighth.

    Lil' Tay's rhymes are dope.

i don't give a shit about stp without weiland,he was the band in my eyes.i just like the voices, weiland, layne, eddie vedder, kurt cobaine, chris cornell.its sad how eddie vedder is the only one left.

funny I got the facelift album in my cd player in my car.one of the best albums.also got dirt, the only 2 albums i got from them.theres a lot of good bands who have a few shitty albums.iv heard a few newer alice in chains song,i think the guitar player took over for vocals, dont recall his name.theyr alright, but I think he tries to sound like layne too much and I cant dig it lol.

My STP story is from about 12-14 years ago. I think it was about 2005? I don't even remember what city it was in, it's kind of a blur. It might have been somewhere in Kentucky, I don't remember. I was on tour with a band that friends of mine were in, I did roadie'ing work for them. We went to some kind of a speaking event, where the 3 STP members (minus Weiland) were speaking at some college. STP were either broken up or on hiatus at this time. Somehow we got in to hear them speak, it was actually outdoors. All I remember were two of my friends who played in the band were passing around a cigarette to each other and I was eating a bag of Chesters fries of those flamin hot Cheetos and drinking a diet soda or something. I typically tell the story as if my friends were passing around a joint, because it sounds funnier and to make it sound like circa 1969 Woodstock, but it was just a cancer stick.

After the speaking was done, we were able to walk up and talk with them. Two of these friends were once in separate bands that were not super popular, but put out a few records on major labels in the 90's. The DeLeo's and Kretz told my friends that they probably weren't good enough musicians, because their songs never charted, they were dropped from their major labels and their bands broke up, and now (then) they were a bunch of mid-30's musicians touring in a shitty van, playing to under 500 people a night. So because of this, that meant they were automatically superior musicians. So I got shitty with them and said ''I respect a lot of what you did, but even you guys put our Sour Girl!''.

I then asked them (even though they were attacking my friends, not me, I wasn't in the band with them) that if they formed a new band, not under the STP moniker, would anybody care? They said everyone would care and they'd a find a way, because they're superior musicians or songsmiths or some shit. And it wasn't even 7 or 8 years later they're reforming STP with the singer of Linkin Park. Now it's almost 1.5 decades later and they're still playing in the STP, with both former singers dead and some other guy singing for them. They are a joke. Now if they formed a new band with the same exact members and new singer, not named Stone Temple Pilots, nobody would give a shit that it was 3 members of the STP and they'd be playing to a few hundred people a night and not thousands. They might even be going back to their roots and playing at The Osprey (the DeLeo's are from Point Pleasant). They're a joke.

Sorry for the long story and post, but I'll never forget how pompous and gigantic dicks they were.

By the way, Jerry Cantrell is the AIC guitarist, that sang some of their songs. He started singing a few towards the end of their original run with Staley. You mostly hear him on the song No Excuses, you kind of hear both him and Layne singing at the same time. He also sang Heaven Beside You. He may sing more now, but they also have a new guy, who took over for Staley like 10 years ago or whenever they reformed.

Jerry Cantrell actually wrote a lot of their earlier songs, but Layne sang them. Rooster is actually about Jerry Cantrell's father, he's the rooster.

Another spam post. Can play guitar, but can't touch this at all. I might have better luck trying it out on bass. My best friend can play some of this on his guitar, he's just better than I am.

that is a really douchey thing of them, just ppl with big egos who think the world revolves around them, yet their only famous from their singer.a guitar player, bass, even the drummer can easily be replaced and nobody would know.actually happened with quite a few famous bands im sure u know.

i think they both took the wrong route with trying to keep the image of the band alive.the right way to do it imo,is how weiland, slash, duffy, and the other dude got together and formed velvet revolver.same with queens of the stone age, dont remember who they are but theyr all former band members who broke off and did their own thing.deleos basically hanging onto a brand name, stp, but stp been gone a long time.

and yea iron maiden is awesome too lol,i tried to learn a few guitar riffs, just couldnt do it.aces high

Hell yeah. I love deftones. One of my favorite bands. White pony is hands down my favorite album. The things a drug trip. Seriously. I don't know if they did it on purpose. But it starts out kinda normal, little amped. Then starts getting weird but awesome. Then the end is like the come down. Almost depressing yet satisfying. You see they're making beer now. Sort of. Looks pretty good. Want to try it.

And speaking of tool. Freaking love them. Prison sex? Hell yeah. Then there's this.... don't know if Maynard is on somthing or just a strange guy. Either way it's awesome

Ever see when a fan runs on stage and Maynard judo tosses the guy and throws him in a rear naked choke.... all while continuing to sing.

For the record - STP ain't shit without Scotty aka The (New) Lizard King...
...he was Jim Morrison reincarnate in concert, a true showman and the women melted as he writhed snakelike on stage, belting out psychedelic acid rock n roll grunge garage music (look it up) that no one has been able to come close to since.

Saw him in his prime he was a true Rock and Roll Hero....another dead Moron!

The first band to try that shit, from what I remember was AC/DC when they replaced Bon Scott with Brian Johnson ( I was too young to remember when the Stones replace Brian Jones with Mick). I did not like it. Van Hager was an abomination. Sublime with Rome is just silly. Anyone remember the Germs when Darby Crash died. They sucked afterwards.

Bad example -he sucked before he died

IMHO Mick Taylor was an upgrade to Brian Jones. Plus, the stones signature sound centered around richatds/wyman/watts, with jagger on vocals. Mick Taylor's leads were a nice addition .

One of the best shows I saw was the first Big Mele on the north shore Oahu in 93. Tool, STP, fishbone, Primus, and the Violent Femmes. I was not a fan of STP at the time but they killed it, they really did. And Tool, holy shit, just badass.
Yeah, some fame can make serious douche bags of people and don't doubt that story of Stp.
I saw Tool again right after 9/11 in Mansfield Ma., was in a weird place because of 9/11, was getting a little pit going with some like minded folk, and got arrested. Drunk and disorderly, resisting arrest, and possession(weed). WTF
The brother in law of fishbones keyboardist ended up working for me on Nantucket. I would get him baked, then sneak off to surf.

I have been digging old rock a lot lately. There are STILL bands I'm discovering from back in the day. All the early stuff from The Pretty Things, and the Sir Douglas Quintet, She's About A Mover(if you like garage rock, check out the vid for this song) they look English but are pure Texas rock, I'm just learning about the singer/guitarist for that band, Doug Somme(I think I misspelled his name), he influenced a whole hell of a lot of people.

I was at that show...I think I saw 3 Big Mele shows in the 90s. Probably the best fun I have had with any live venue.
