That looks so terrific! Not only 9K for the thing, but it would necessitate a new big surfmobile with ramps. Or bring a Suomo wrestler to the beach to lift it. Now there’s an idea. Bring a suomo wrestler to carry me and skip the vehicle

Yea... yesterday afternoon's cleanup was freakin' fun. Warm, sunny day... waist to chest high surf... light offshores. Perfect conditions, and fun-sized waves. Every once in a while a nice nugg would double up, but for the most part it was just super playful. Rode the fish. My neck is scabbed up.
3' junk today. Still had fun running around on the log. Water was crystal clear again, and nobody out. 3/2 was good, except for the occasional flush.
I had about 5-ish combined hours today at two different spots. Okay waist to chest high stuff. Some spots were working, other spots weren't. I have a couple friends from Florida visiting for a couple days. They surf too. So finding extra suites for everybody was kind of a pain in the ass, but we got an abundance of borts to choose from. So that was pretty fun! Even hit one spot that's kind of flat usually, but it was going off today. And when it goes off, there's usually quite a few heads there.
Fun morning. Had to be into work early so i paddled out while it was still a little dark. Gots to do what ya gots to do to get your water time in. Waves were thigh high, waist on sets. A little onshore crumble to the lip but clean faces and punchy. Got some fun ones. One really good looong left and a shorter but more exciting right were the two that I'll be replaying in my head all day. Feeding off that stoke. Sunrise from the water was gorgeous today. I'm not as descriptive and good with words as some of you guys. But damn. Most beautiful sunrise i seen in awhile. Dropped to the 3/2 today. Been wearing the 5/4 every sesh still. The 4/3 would be the best bet for early AM but mine needs replacing so i stuck with the 5/4 till today. Not 100% comfortable, but nothing to complain about either. Some wind and i probably would of been cold. Boots and gloves still but I'm thinking i can start shedding those two. Might be chilly but it's doable. Got to say, when i put on that 3/2 i was amazed. I forgot how thin they are. Felt really good to shed that thick rubber finally
Finally! Moved into a new place a bike ride from the beach, in Jupiter. Been surfing drifty slop lately and today got back to my local spot on the island, incoming high tide so the runoff from the floods won't get me sick. Got some nice waist to stomach high peaks with a minimal crowd and not much drift.. On my fish. Feeling good, still a bit winded in the constant choppe. You can swim laps all you want, but the only way to get into surf shape at my advanced age lol is to surf.
Total wash out day. Surf wasn't really even worth checking out. Rode dirtbikes instead, which was kinda fun. I can't remember the last time I rode it. I know the feeling. I always get winded after the first surf in a while. Nice that you moved into a place that's a bike ride from the beach! I have the same set up here, which was something I was definitely aiming for my entire life.
Finally in the 3/2! Havnt surfed in about 2/3 weeks... Got a handful of fun ones this morning, although it was small, fun on the longbaord and felt like summer is right around the corner!
This morning was an LB day, knee - waist and kinda soft / mushy. I caught about a dozen or so waves, kinda fun.
may sux. went out without gloves for the first time this year the other day though, that was nice. i guess. putting out the vibe big time cause all the sudden there are 23897w89832 people in the water 'cause the air thermometer goes over 70* funny thing was, dudes out wouldn't shut up and stop talking to me, by the end of the mushturds sesh i was in a much better mood cause dudes wouldn't shut up and stop talking to me. ironically, i was thankful for that
Serious question. You like the LB or SB more? I know you enjoy the LB and SB. Very much like me. The old locals call me bi. Because I'm not a SB douche and can ride both. Anyway, getting side tracked. My point is that i personally enjoy that SB style (tighter turns) more. That's why i got the mini sims. I'm asking because i notice you ride the LB on alot of those smaller thigh/waist high days. Days that sound really fun on a dedicated small wave SB. Just curious your opinion on the matter. I think you should get a mini sims or true fish (your coil is cool, but I personally don't call that a fish). I think you'd enjoy being able to mix it up on smaller days. This is ofcourse without knowing your personal preference and answer to my question. Any way, today was small. Too small. Didn't go. Back on it tomorrow! Looking like a beautiful mini sims day. Yeeeew
I’m not really sure to be honest. I love surfing both. I try to pick the right tool for the job. I’m open to all types of boarts and would love a mini, among other boarts.
This morning was a blast on the Delmarva....little rippable nugs, beautiful morning. Water felt like it was close to 65. Such a fun sesh...surfing with a bunch of kids that were frothing and for once I didn't feel like i was just getting in the way. These kids were hooting at every single wave ridden, every single girl that walked by on the beach and a bunch of random stuff...they actually hollered at the fishing boat in the pic to blow his horn, and he did. Fun DP sesh
Not that you asked me... but I'll chime in on the SB/LB question... I really don't have a preference on most days. As long as there's waves, and I can get out, I'm happy. But that's on most days. On some days, I'm definitely am in a mood to ride a shortboard... usually to let out some pent up aggression after a bad day. Lol. That sounds corny, but the physicality of shortboarding is something I do crave at times. I never say to myself, "I wish it was small so I could longboard." But I do sometimes wish I could go out and surf like a total animal until I'm too exhausted to move. I ride a fish most days... because that's the size range of the waves around here most days - waist to chest. Under waist high, log. Chest high and up, SB. I'll mix in a mini simmons with the fish to break it up a bit... or ride a midlength/hybrid if it's onshorey junky crap just as a change of pace.
Totally. I knew it was a odd question because there's really not a true answer. Two diffrent things. For me personally, when i do ride the LB, i almost have to remind myself im on one. When i see a nice looking section my instinct is to try and hit it or whatever. Somthing that is more suited for a SB. I really don't go based off size though unless it's under thigh high. But at the end of the day it's two diffrent styles and mood really plays a role, as well as waves. I was just curious cause i know he likes to mix things up, but noticed he takes the LB out alot more. Today's sesh actually plays right into this discussion. It was really fun. Got up early and checked it around 430. My spot is shallow and can turn on in a matter of minutes. It was struggling to break. But with the tide dropping i had faith. Plus i was up by 350 AM. I'm going surfing regardless. Suited up and took the mini out, leashless, in the water by 445. At first onlythe sets broke, but within 10 min or so it started working and just kept getting better. Thigh to waist high and real glassy. Rights and lefts. Some were soft and cruisey, which the mini does just fine. Some of the bigger waist high guys had more wall to play with. Caught a ton of waves. Got a few really fun rights. The furthest peak west had a right coming off it, nice wall, then it would meet up with the next peak, which was softer. So you could basically get a bunch of speed and bounce off the softer peak and keep going. Almost like a 2 for 1! Could of rode the LB but i don't like to on work days. SB is just easier. But the mini is a blast on days like today. Really fun. I knew it would get better than when i first saw it. But it got better than i expected, quicker than i expected. Very nice surprise. Caught so many waves in actually tired from what would seem like a relaxing sesh. Work is hard today after that morning
