Today, SwellInfo said 1-2 clean at Robert Moses Long Island NY, so I went to take a look, but it was flat. Gilgo was flat too. Flat is not 1-2, wondering why? I've seen this before. Might switch sites but wondering if anyone can explain?

They use "computer modeling". Algorithms. They are notoriously inaccurate and often wrong because they depend on human input based on human assumptions, which, in turn, means bias and error.
Most of the "global warming" concept suffers from the same methodology. Pure garbage.
Go for a paddle--it does a body good!!

I agree with old man barry, so for a paddle specially at sunrise

It could be possible that it was high tide at your spots and with such tiny swell it will only break at low

Maybe the tide was full and the 1.6 ft swell wasn't showing...

Your wife wanted you to leave the house, hacked SI and tweaked the algorithms pertaining to both breaks?

Even at low incoming tide 1-2 can be flat. For various reasons. Tide is just one reason. Swell angle could be another. Swell period is another. How good or bad the sand bar is at your spot. Even the wind can kill it if it’s a strong offshore wind or even side shore. 1-2 doesn’t give you a lot of room for error, so you have to have a lot going for you if 1-2 is going to produce.

I doubt any of the other sites predicted differently, but go ahead and be an abandoneur. We won't mind.

I don't know, I think the accuracy is pretty good. Called for flat as phvck this morning and all last week. Nailed it

Oh yes, how could I have over looked surfing season?!

As inaccurate as swell info can be from time to time, I still find it most accurate (compared to other surf borting websites) as far as just a quick glance at the forecast

Also please keep in mind, it's summer and it's usually flat, and 2-3 has always been considered (even back on the old noaa radio days) a typical summer day that is just about surfable, anything less is pretty much flat.

Idk why I just rote all that, the guy is probably never gonna reply and abandone us to magic seaweed

Oh God. This guy surfs next to me. Why couldn't of this guy been from jersey or somthing. Normally I'd PM you with advice. But you sound too ignorant to deserve it.

Jokes aside, it could be due to any number of unknown variables. If your homebreak prediction is frequently off, perhaps consider beginning a private conversation with the Site Admin, so that all can be relayed and a confirmation process may possibly commence.
