Has anyone ever purchased/surfed any of the 9Fish Surfboards? Some of the small wave boards are interesting

I consider myself to be open to most shapes and would ride anything if they worked. I have seen a few of those boards in person and they looked terrible to me. I have also watched the videos of people surfing them on you tube and they look slow, stiff and sluggish. Check out some of the videos on their website, there are a few vids of people who seem to be able to surf but just can't get them going, also lots of vidoes of people who aren't doing well generally and I'm thinking a big reason is the board. The ones I saw in person had the look of some of the cheap chinese boards you might see at a beach supply store, they had odd rail lines, poorly foiled etc. I'm sure they would work to some extent since pretty much anything will work ok (my own shapes prove this) but if you are anything other then a complete beginner I think you could tell that they are lacking something. I wouldn't waste my time with them and the resale has to be terrible.

i was checkin them out as a christmas gift. i had to say no to it cus it was a pop out, and a bad one at that. i ended up getting a 5' 8" channel islands skinny fish. it has a quad fin system, well shaped fishtail, and skinny rails for good handling. check it out.

    Zippy Get your facts right!!!

    Just to clarify for you:

-All 9:Fish boards are 100% hand shaped and hand glassed, not popouts.
-Our boards are designed for intermediate surfers who want to improve their skills by catching more waves; as such, our videos feature regular intermediate surfers
-9:Fish boards are designed by guys with advanced degrees in engineering; many of our design decisions are scientifically based and optimized to help the user catch more waves; other boards just don't have this pedigree
-Channel Islands makes great boards, especially if you are an aspiring pro surfer (that's why their videos feature pros). Most surfers, however, are not in this category. Note that CI uses an electronically controlled CNC machine to do most of its shaping, then does a small amount of hand finishing. their videos feature pros for that reason.
-Read the testimonials on our site from actual surfers
-Hand shaping at 9:fish is overseen by Clyde Beatty Jr., master fish shaper from Ventura with 30 years experience with twin fins and swallow tails. As such, our boards reflect a world class tradition of retro fish shapes.
-Has anyone on this board actually surfed one of our boards? Didn't think so
-Calling people kooks is a blanket statement of disrespect, usually uttered by someone who is fairly ignorant or uneducated. I'd like to see a video of that guy who made that comment surfing so we can all have fun laughing at his "skills"

I do understand zippy that you would want to push your own boards but you are clearly very ignorant. I left the definition for you just so you dont feel the need to make a thing of it.
    Ignorant -
    1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
    2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
    3. uninformed; unaware.
    4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.

Oh yeh and as far as resale your are right it is horrible...when people buy a 9:fish they never sell them. Sorry to say but yeah i do see your boards on clist all the time and it is not like you are making some kind of a break through with your designs or innovative glassing technique. You should be stoked when someone wants to buy a 9:Fish we have one goal...Share the stoke and catch more waves! So yeah brah stay cool and see you in the water!
