Probably because he is full of shit. We have another guy here who amassed a huge collection of wave surf riding boards. He eventually confessed that he couldn't even swim.
i just found out about that bsr water park/surf park in Waco texas.actually looks pretty fukin good, but they never respond to questions, douchebags.besides the probably goin to nica this fall.i wouldn't recommend florida lol,or any east coast spot.surf trips are supposed to be good,u can come down and end up not scoring shit cause its flat
This is true. And it will never be not true. Possibility of getting skunked is always there. But that's part of the fun of EC trips. You don't plan it months in advance. You pick up and go at a moment's notice when conditions look promising. Last minute road trip, running toy should get waves but knowing the possibility to get skunked is there....i find it exciting. And if you do get skunked, you venture out. Try and find the one spot that's working. Not saying your wrong. Just saying there are positives and ways to minimize the skunk potential
Actually, the best day i ever surfed in jerz.... forecast was looking bad here. Winds not quite right. I believe the swell forecast was for like waist to chest high. Around 6-7 PM the night before me and a buddy decided to drive down the jerz. Showed up and things looked raw. Checked a few spots. By afternoon it was absolutely firing. Well OH. Surfline did a huge write up about it, calling it the swell of the year and how it wasn't expected and all that. My point is no one saw that one coming. Taking a random trip payed off huuuuuge
Love impromptu trips to the EC when there's a bump. The anticipation and anxious drive over and the stoke on the drive back when it works out. Kids are too young to do a big trip now, but the older boy is pretty much hooked and the younger wants to do what big brother can do. Hope they keep at it, I try never to push too much for it though. Would love to take trips with them in the years to come
You want it warm, where you can get it big, and you have a 12 year old daughter that you want to have fun and not drown, so August - OBX - lots of variety February - Maui - same thing Have fun!
Haha my closest surfin bud supposedly has a trip to that Waco wave in Aug or September, if he goes for sure I'll detail it here for y'all
my point about Fla the kid is way to young to hit up CR. How many of us have been to the tropics only to see people show with no clue and be sacred sh!tless when they see how much power there is. Too many newbs measure things based on their local break only to get a rude awakening when faced with real surf.
Spot on Pump. Reading that brought back memories of my first trip to the north shore of Oahu in 1994. Chuns and Jockos were real wake up calls for me and my buddies.
The best place for a 12 year old to learn is Cocoa Beach in the Summer, lots of small rideable waves.
I would not bring a 12 year old to Fla with Wayne lurking... She's way to old and she's a girl so you'd most likely be safe. But I still woldn't risk it
i love this interest in EC for a surf trip. while we're at it, wait till the real Sept Cane swells pop in, bring ur 12 yr old girl and have a blast. don't worry bout "currents" and "65+mph winds", they're just hogwash terms. just chase canes for like 3 weeks, it'll be fine n Adventureous like chasing pokemon n sht
My Friend, I appreciate that compliment a lot believe me! I AM a novice, trust me, I’ve just gotten lucky 50% of the time hahah. I don’t get to call myself anything but that when from day to day I have to unlearn/relearn basics as you’ve seen. It’s why I ask people like YOU and Dawn and Chavez And my northern east coast bros for opinion and viewpoints... nothing beats time and experience. Nothing, so as far as I’m concerned, your all the “Strapped Crew” to me. The other point is in my experience there are different types of 8-10’ waves... nantasket hurricane swell? Big, powerful but you can see it coming for 200yrds as a green A frame before it gets steep and hollow. That insane vid of Belmar? Those are probably 10’-12’ and look like death to me. I would never even try until I was waaay more confident - I know my limits lol
