For summer surf, its been a good little stretch that looks to continue. Thick ass fun boards make waist high worth it. Skunked this AM with the winds, but when it goes soft or north it will be a good few hours.
Weird break this morning. Totally dusted first 3 waves. Then caught a few screamers. First time out since hip replacement on waist high or better. Def need some more water time. Arms sore stoke strong.
Went out after work to a reef in La Jolla. Ended up running into a bunch of friends I haven’t seen in a while. Got a goode right with a handful of turns and 3 rearry goode lefffs. Nice sunset. Warm water. Warm air. No wind and 6-7’ sets every 5-10 minutes.
nobody responded at work after i said good morning when coming in. if i didn't surf this morning, i'd prolly be cussing dem bout now. cargo pants-pockets urrywhere, glassed out a bit but a bit disorganized. chest to shoulder. shoulda went down further at the washout, crowded as fck. glad to get on it dough. bud drove me out yesterday evening, and it was a chopped up mess. morning's where's it's at... not here at work, but out there
Waist high SE windwell this morning. It was too deep and fat on a full high tide and most waves were loading up and closing out on shore but I managed to pick off a few fun ones before work but nothing to exciting. I'm sure it's pretty fun about now with less water. Might give it another go after work.
That’s my shapers home stomping grounds since late 70’s! Roger Beal La Jolla Reef Designs. I guess he’s like a rock star around those parts with boart makers
Hey just an observation gang... how come there’s no category for the oldies here like “well seasoned” or “well done” or “well used” members? Bahahahahahha
Man I grew up surfing the Gulf, it’s where I learned to surf, poorly. It got me hooked enough to drive East and discovered Cocoa when I was able to drive myself there. The beginning of my dream to live on the East Coast was born there. Now I’m livin that dream. So amazing accomplishing a lifelong goal after much hard work and dedication. Anyways, I love when my fellow Gulfsters get some.
Cloudy, windy, choppy... I got my little girl to come with me and just enjoy the beach. It turned glassy offshore thigh/waist and some chest high loooonng rights and shorter but fun lefts for the rest of the night...and I finally got rid of that dam lazy leg!! Could finally focus on my form and timing rather than just paddling to catch crap for a ride - any ride. And did I catch a ton of nice rights and lefts... And Brooke strapped onto my board and snagged five nice green waves and rides in her shorts and jersey because she saw me having so much fun lol. Great session
I met up with Zeroevol this morning for a surf. He's in town with family and drove over from Orlando. We paddled out right before first light to try and get the last bit of incoming high tide. It was clean with waves in the waist high range with sets occasionally pushing chest high. I let Zero borrow my 6' Coil M-80, I rode my 6'4" Coil Flashback Fish. We traded waves for nearly 2 hours and got lots of fun rides. The rides weren't super long or anything but there was enough for a fun drop, turn, snap, and maybe cruise a bit down the line but the long ones were few and far between. Overall a great time. It's always nice meeting someone from the forum who can actually surf and they are normal, and not some f'ing weirdo you can't seem to get rid of. Breath of fresh air honestly.
So THATS why my mass email campaign to have surf buddy days has come up zilch! Hmmmmm, plan Z it is... mass domination with mind control buckets
That's awesome. I tried to meet up with Z once at the Dover racetrack but I couldn't find him. He was like the Kaiser Sousa of racetrack security guards.
Yeah man it was cool putting a name to a face and sharing a peak with one of the cooler dudes on here.
Soooooo.... check out the “local forecast” - and the reality of live cam - At least here they get it close ... 2.6’ at 7 seconds is more like it lol But I’ll be surfing thigh high glass again tonight on incoming!!! Woohooooo
The windowless white van of duct tape and doom seems to be lurking at every turn. If the vans a rockin, don't come a knockin is what the sign said...
