I may look like a donkey, but I'll be having a good time looking like a donkey. I mentioned he made them for some of the pros because that what he told me on the phone, basically letting me know he already had a design dialed in that he could do for me given what I was asking for. I'm experimenting my dude. I have come a long way in my surfing the last few years, time for some more challenging boarts.
Speaking of pros, I've been watching a lot of them and HOW they ride the twin fin. Seems it's more of a pump glide, pump glide, hard bottom turn, top turn / snap, pump glide, pump glide. They really seem to retain speed and require less wiggling to work those fins. I was watching video after video last night and just got stoked with the way they can be ridden. Whether I'll be able to look 10% as good on one is yet to be seen, but I'm excited to try!
True twin fin fishes go good rail to rail and vertically. Remember on a twinnie, if you lean hard into a turn and bury the inside rail, the other fin pops out, so it's part skateboard at times. Get loose, get funky
Yeah man, that's how I like to surf a SB, I really lean into my turns when the opportunity presents itself. I could really use a solid wall to carve on right about now!
I want to ride all types of boarts, variety keeps it interesting and brings new challenges. I believe it makes you a better surfer too.
Yes!! 100%! I want to become a well rounded surfer and different rides for different waves creates the chances to do it. And force me to do the hardest thing for me: get out of my comfort zones. Awesome
FWIW, on the smallest mushiest days during my CR trip the 2 guys killing it the hardest were riding: 1) a mini sims, and 2) a retro fish with Geppies if your new Fish looks anything like that foiled green glider, you just upped your game
Just heard back from him, he said it'll be $580 for everything including the Gephart 2's and gloss. He has the blank in stock and can start this week!
Scoobyville gave me a good nudge for an idea - offer a thirty wrack for boys in the shop... you may get free upgrades and serious stoke from your shaper. I did
Will do, along with a ride report the day I get it hopefully. Or soon after. No new boart curse please!
my disc is best described as funky. it has a very unforgiving sweet spot but once you find it the thing will let you do crazy stuff on tiny waves
