Anybody ride Rawson borts?

I went late yesterday to try and scratch out a few rides in this huge rippy blown out mess we have and took the mini mal because I thought it would paddle quick and catch these weird instant curling breakers mixed in between huge mountains of doubled up swell and wind rip. Irony is the Rawson probably would have worked awesome - that’s the only borts that we’re working in it! I caught one that turned into a drop off a foaming lip 6’ up, made the drop and then got clobbered in the closeout. I just didn’t want to have the first time o. It be a nightmare or worse mess up the boart
There’s always tomorrow though.

 

So like an asshole, I go try out my Rawson - the smallest bort I’ve ever tried to surf on by half, in this...all I will say is that shore pound was chest high. That shit out the back was crazy heavy head high plus swell underneath the wind swell and chop. And well, yes I looked like a total fucking idiot learning THAT boart on THAT water... but I can paddle it(I must look like tugboat Annie) and I can float on it sorta (nose high) if not it shovels like a submarine lol. And balance on it. And actually caught the first

 

Wave I tried - crappy one but I rode the dam thing. And also the ONLY one. Got a few nice rides on the big gunboat DelRay on the way outside but it’s sketchy out there...

 

I wish I was THERE at those beaches this summer
