From what I’ve read here, I’m WAAAYY better looking and, I traveled somewhere to surf!!! Hahahaha. He just needs to come back so all this can go away and swellinfo can be Peyton place again. Hey at least you all know I’m not eMass Spicoli now - just ask the BMonp And now at least you all know I surf too hahaha
Yeah, plus Barry emailed me yesterday and told me how it’s flat, same day you surfed. He also has a message for everybody he wanted me to pass on to youse guys. He says... “Just viewed SI for first time in a month or so. I cannot help but note that they are still all morons and sexually depraved misfits. Tell 'em I said so.”
Fun right now. Dropping the kiddies at the Poole and heading out on the mini mal before the lifeguards force me into a pack.
Another lucky session this a.m. some chunky chest high surf. rode my walden 9'2 and it seemed to be the correct call for the day. lots of lefts and rights depending on where you were and was able to connect quite a few sections . There was only about 10 others in the water. surfed from 8 till 11 then hit up the farmers market and the vegetable stand. rib eyes on the grille tonight with a baked potato and some fresh veggies!
It seems all the surf forecasting/reporting sites missed the ball on VB today. It was 3-4 at Croatan, not the 1-2 they all were predicting and reporting. Best I've seen this summer and great end to the "surfing season". It did get crowded as the day progressed. Lots of "party waves" and prolly more than half the boards were soft tops...even a pregnant gal was out there on one catching some good rides. Not sure how she accomplished the paddling. Brought two boards: long board for me and soft top for brother. He had a blast. I did too until I smashed the nose of my long board by pearling into a sandbar. I still ended up having a good time on the soft top afterwards. Sore, tired, but feeling great this afternoon. A nice birthday present.
That's actually funny you say that, because you and emass are both stoke monsters. You might be emass hahaha. I can say for sure though that your not Barry!
Fun surf Sunday morning but tonight's session was the best...end of labor day weekend, small clean waves, normally crowded spot was sparse at 7 p.m. until dark...like three of us on the peak trading fun waves. Swam out with the point and shoot Sunday morning to capture a few shots of friends in challenging lighting.
The outer banks is a magical place. Scored low/incoming tide the other day with no wind. The buoy was reading 3 feat @ 8 seconds. At Delaware 3 ft @ 8 seconds would be thigh high. At a good sandbar in OBX it produced solid chest high peaks (on the sets). It was a good surprise. Its been longboardable every day. Looks like a real swell might hit before its time to go home!
It was like getting off a plane and paddling out at a foreign break. Three months of flat, then late this morning on the incoming tide, the first peak at my local was HH and gnarly, and there were lots of random shoulder high sections and lots of whitewater and a duck dive fest to get out. Tropical Storm Gordon gave us some nice feeder bands and 20-30 mph onshores. I was gassed! The new crew were killing it. On one nice HH right peak , I skittered down the face, and ate it at the bottom. Like the moron I am (hi Barry) I took out my wide assed fish thinking it would be chest hi mush. It was breaking top to bottom on the sets, which were steady and ragged. And I'm all stiff legged from not surfing for three months. A squall passed, it was pins and needles, most of the crew got out, I stayed for a few empty warbly right peaks. Back in the game. Finally. Life is goode.
Yeah, Delaware has a wide continental shelf friction and faces NE right towards Jersey which blocks NE swell...tamps down swell a lot. I've seen Delaware thigh high at 3' @ 8 seconds and then driven the 15 miles down to ocean city inlet and scored chest high. Amazing how much variation there is.
labor day burn set. Sunday had a good pulse, chopped up a lil later in the day. Monday was choppy but rideable tho my wipeouts were more memorable then. Took the fun shape Sunday, scored a bit but not fast enough to make the most of anything. Brought a smaller fisch Monday and had my fair share of wipeouts n fun rides. Found out Washout's new spots after construxion has moved out, solid wknd all around
Checked the forecast last night to see what SI was showing for that swell were supposed to be getting later in the week. Saw that there should still be a little bump this AM. Checked my wind forecast as SI is usually off on the winds. Light and offshore. Sweeeeet. Im going surfing. I was the only guy out. Granted, it's the time of year where we're losing daylight. Got to paddle out when the skies still dark, but the light is just breaking the horizon. Thigh to waist high. Clean. Waves were staying open a bit more than the other day so you could boogey a bit with them. I didn't stay out long, but got enough to send me into work feeling good. And man what a show i got as the sun slowly rose. The sky was putting on a light show with all the deep oranges and purple. Hope the rest of you guys are still getting wet, i think we all could use some water time after the past couple weeks of flatness
Nice work B! Did you run the gauntlet afterwards? I’m covered in little red dots that my wife thought was a rash from rash guard until I told her about the Great Mosquito Mauling of September 2, 2018 And whose shitting who? You were in the corner spot at 4 a.m Hahahaha Last night was fun but tough because every spot that was working had speed bumps playing on it until dark - still got some fun rails to shore and hooting and hollering from the goyles on the beach... not a bad night at all
Ho bruh the fact your communicating with Fumunda Cudda via email speaks volumes aboot the sexual conflicts you might be seeking out Oh yeah you really thought or fought he was some old wise salt C'mon now if you can't put the pieces together with Mr. Wiggles and Fumunda Cudda you might as well have Z dawg float you some desomorphene Oh and I surfed some sloppy junk on Saturday
Good Labor Day Weekend of fun surf all three days with windows of opportunity abound. Surfed Kitty Hawk to South Nags Head and it was surprisingly consistant even though it was not big. Chilled with some family and friends (got the smoker pumping with a Bone in Prime Roast....which was epic, and some tenderloins), even played some golf at the Sea Scape. Florence looks to provide even with the conflicting models, looks like Rodanthe could have some good conditions....stoked on the storms lining up. Hopeful for a nice action packed Autumn!!!
Hahaha i wouldn't call it a gauntlet today. That was rough. But i definitely had some riders along the way today. Iv learned to accept it unfortunately.
