flhurricane.com: “The end of the month has come and the main impacts were from Florence and a some from Kirk. Florence however remains the bigger story, with some areas it affeected still seeing flooding. Leslie remains in the Atlantic, potentially a long-lived system that is unlikely to affect any land (At least anytime soon). It will need to be monitored to see where it eventually winds up, but could move out to sea to the north or veer back east. October is where we begin to move the attention back closer in toward areas such as the Bahamas, West Caribbean, and Gulf. And the next potential is probably near the West Caribbean, which may show up this coming weekend. [forecast models show a low brushing by North Carolina coast.] Beyond that Rosa in the East Pacific is forecast to make landfall in Mexico along Baja California and potentially impact Arizona. Mark Sudduth at Hurricanetrack.com is heading out to check that situation out.
i see sumtins brewin in about 2 weeks for the southeast; cutting off the gulf/carribbean. any details?
Here in SeNc the water is contaminated with hogwash, sewage, and used needles and we can't surf yet. Can we push that incoming swell back a few more weeks? Thanks in advance.
I fared very well compared to most people in town. Had a couple trees down but they missed the house. I'm on high ground so the flooding missed me completely. For a frame of reference, I live about 4.5 miles from the ocean. Biggest PITA so far is being out of work for 2 weeks. Worked 60 hours last week trying to catch up and will be doing that for next 3 or 4 weeks. I work in finance and the workload is insane right now due to all the other folks who have been out of work and are now seeking relief. I was stuck outside of town for a whole week after the storm. Wilmington basically became an island and you could not get back. It was a strange feeling not being able to get back to my property. I had never evacuated for anything before Florence and I made the decision while she was still a cat 4. I boarded up the windows but I was still prepared to lose everything. I still think I made the right decision by leaving. Finally made it back on Friday 9/21. The route back took me to some serious banjo on the front porch, eating a possum burger type places. Roads would open up and others would wash out while we were on route. Stopped at the one open gas station and it looked like scene out of the walking dead. Shelves stripped bare and the place was a wreck, but still open. I topped off my gas grabbed a redbull. The lady at the counter just said to pay whatever ha, she was over it. All in all it took about 4 hours longer to go from southern MD to Wilmington than it normally does. I was just happy to walk into a cool (power came back on 4 days before I got home) and dry house. Now I have a 10 foot by 20 foot pile of debris in my yard waiting for pickup. Can't say enough about my Echo chainsaw. That thing started on the first pull after sitting untouched for 2 years. Thanks for asking ha.
when r ya NC bouyz gonna man up n go in the water? storm was 2 weeks ago. do ya dip a stick in the water n see if it comes out muddy? who's giving the green light
glad you and your are ok for the most part, the water will clean up right as the workload drops back to normal and youll get some tubes.
Nature scares me and I prefer to surf in a chlorinated pool. Just kidding. I'm staying out of the water based on how the water in the rivers and creeks smells right now. It smells like a cross between a food service dumpster in direct sunlight in july, and fresh dogshit on the bottom of your shoe. I'm good on that shit. I can wait. EDIT: TBH i don't know who to trust as far as the water reports. There are a couple around here but they already gave the all clear. With the amount of influence big Ag and energy have on our local gov't I don't really trust what they are telling me. I have gotten sick after a minor rainstorm so I'm just trying to proceed with caution. Any input is appreciated.
We have a rare red tide on the FL east coast from Stuart down to Palm Beach, Health Dept closed the beaches Saturday and they are still closed. A few guys out surfing Jupiter Inlet today on stomach hi mush, WTF? It's from the Gulf, it got sucked out via the Loop Current, now the Gulfstream is bring it up and nearby, and the onshores are blowing the toxic mist on to the beaches. Dogs are suffering the worst, some people more than others. Unaware, I went for a swim and then surfed early Saturday before it really settled in, my eyes were kinda raw, that's all. Now it's bad just being near the beach. The waves are junk. The air sucks. It should all clear out in three weeks after a good cold front. This is truly the Dirty Souff. I shouldn't be complaining. headhigh, I'm glad you're doing OK. Get lots of Cutters wipes, (the mosquito repellent), it's gonna be essential.
Here is a thread from Flhurricane.com about the Caribbean lows being followed... http://flhurricane.com/cyclone/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=99686&an=0&page=0#99686
DaBuh has it all figured out https://dabuh.com/2018/10/02/latest-on-leslie-possible-michael-upcoming-forecast-period/ "If you know how it flows, then you know how it goes" Da Buh
This red tide sucks. Went for a morning run along the beach on Sunday morning and by the time I got home I was hacking up a lung like I just ripped a bong. Luckily it's blown out like you said sis, def not worth getting in the water for that crap.
