I know he will want the fight and the paycheck... I mean i'm not sure he wants what Khabib is serving up in the cage

He just needs to spend more time working on his jitz. Take 6 months and do nothing but that. Then try again. He needs to train here in the US, maybe go to American Top Team or something. Work with elite ground game guys. He doesn’t need work on his stand up, so as long as he stays sharp there he can dedicate more time to staying off the mat, or at least being more comfortable off his back. He has to be patient and not give up his back every time he gets tired of having someone on top of him.

I agree with you DP but everyone knew that was his weakness and it was kahbibs strength. So why didn't he do it this time? He had time to train on the ground

I’m sure he did train for Kabib’s ground game but obviously what they did wasn’t enough.

I get the feeling that he is surrounded by “yes men” and isn’t being pushed or challenged enough in his camp. I think he’s getting the same type of treatment BJ Penn was getting after “The Prodigy” made a name for himself. People suck up to you and ride that train as long as they can because it benefits them financially.

He needs to mix it up, get exposed to different coaching and different training partners. Get out of his comfort zone. Humble himself to someone like GSP and his coach Firaz. Guys like that. It will do him a world of good.

    Fresh off the press lol

UFC PRESIDENT DANA White says Conor McGregor has already called him, asking for an immediate rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
McGregor (21-4) suffered a fourth-round submission loss to Nurmagomedov (27-0) at UFC 229 last weekend in Las Vegas. A brawl between the two camps immediately ensued, as Nurmagomedov leapt over the Octagon to attack a member of McGregor's corner.
Later that evening, McGregor wrote on social media he is "looking forward to the rematch." White told "First Take" on Monday that McGregor has also brought it up to him directly.
"[Nurmagomedov] has to go before the Nevada commission, and we have to see what's going to happen with Khabib and this whole mess," White said. "But Conor McGregor has already called me, wanting a rematch.
"That's what Conor has asked for. We'll see what happens with Khabib and what's next. Tony Ferguson looked amazing. Those two have been lined up three different times to fight and it hasn't happened. We'll see how things play out."
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has withheld Nurmagomedov's $2 million disclosed purse, pending a full review of what took place after the championship fight on Saturday. According to White, several members of Nurmagomedov's team were arrested but McGregor has declined to press charges.
McGregor also threw punches at members of Nurmagomedov's camp after the fight. The NSAC, however, quickly deemed his actions did not warrant freezing his paycheck.
Nurmagomedov's teammate at American Kickboxing Academy, Luke Rockhold, said on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show on Monday that if the UFC wants Nurmagomedov to fight a rematch, the promotion will have to pay him more than McGregor, who is by far the highest-paid fighter in MMA.
"If you want Khabib," said Rockhold, a former UFC middleweight champion, "he'll want a record-breaking number."
Nurmagomedov faces potential fines, community service and even suspension for his actions on fight night. White said the UFC will allow the NSAC to conduct its hearings before making a decision on Nurmagomedov's next fight. He also said the UFC took extra precautions to prevent this type of situation, but it was unavoidable.
"We knew some things could happen after this fight, so we had everything in place to make sure that didn't happen," White said. "I didn't see Khabib jumping over the cage like that. He got over that thing quick and was going after one of Conor's cornermen.
"There's no doubt he's justified for being upset, but first of all, you, you just won the fight against the biggest superstar in all of sports, let alone our sport. You just beat him while the whole world was watching. ... The only one getting hurt in this thing now is Khabib. Now he has to go before the Nevada commission."

Abbot teaching Costello how to box.

Abbott: you give him the 1,3,the 1,3!
Costello: ok! Give him the 1, 3, the 1,3! Wait a second! What happens to 2?
    Abbott: oh, 2 you get!

Not surprising that Cmac wants an immediate rematch. Payday will be mega... but he better win if he doesn’t wanna go out like Rousey.

Yeah. They all hit a wall eventually. I hate seeing fighters hang on too long and go out on a long losing streak.

Seeing Chuck Liddell’s decline was painful to watch, but Conor is a lot younger. So I think he still has time left in his peak.

Money changes some people though. The hunger has to be there and there has to be other reasons to wake up and be motivated to fight and get punched in the head for a living.

Lack of money makes people hungry. An abundance of money can make one feel satisfied. So I think it has to be about pride, legacy, and respect. Those things motivate people when money is no longer a motivator.

DP, he doesn't deserve a rematch. He got mauled. He got beat at his own game on his feet and then punished and put to sleep. His biggest skill was his mouth, and I'm glad the better man shut it the fook up.

He'll never catch up to Khabib groundwise you can't just take 6 months and make up for years of lost training time.

SS, #1 Kabib didn’t beat Conor on the feet. He landed one good shot that dropped him for a split second and he was back on his feet. The rest of the stand up went to Conor, In fact he won round 3 with his stand up. Kabib won rounds 1 & 2 by taking Conor down and ground and pounding. Round 4 Conor was winning again in the stand up until he got taken down again.

Lastly, he didn’t put Conor to sleep. The choke wasn’t even sunk in under the chin. He just gave up and tapped.

At least watch the fight for F sakes lol

You may be right, but it’s not like he is starting from zero. He has been training grappling for years, just not enough of the RIGHT training. So I think 6 months with the right coach and training partners could give him a much better chance.

This says more about Cmac than anything else... khabib broke his will and made him quit. Not very “warrior” like...

Fact is out of the last 5 times we saw Conor in the cage/ring he’s lost 3 of the fights... he needs an easy win to build his confidence not another loss.
Khabib will decimate him again in the rematch

I have a hard time disagreeing with you on the quitting part. I can’t agree that he’ll be decimated in the rematch though, provided he does what I suggest. If he doesn’t change anything though, then you may be right. He did stuff some take downs, just not enough of them. Some key adjustments could be the difference. Also, ring rust is a real thing. He needs to get back in there.

Listen....kahbib is know for the ground game. No surprise he dominated there. Connor is known for his stand up.... but he didn't dominate at all. They both only landed one good shot each. Plus, it doesn't matter how many rounds you win or lose if you tap or get KOd.

Point being kahbib is more well rounded. At least in that fight. I havnt watched many of his fights so what do i know. Connor is good, no doubt. But i really don't think he's as good as everyone makes him out to be. You can't be so over dimensional. I will say, even his stand up looked pretty bad considering how it usually is. Might not be a good idea to just train on the ground.

All I keep hearing through all of this well informed back and forth? The same thing Dana is hearing: kaChing kaChing KaChing! It’s showmanship that makes money... I miss the days of Liddel and the old crew. I actually got a charity fight with Don the Dragon Wilson back in the late 90’s. it was charity he didn’t kill me lol! He later fought Dicky Kimber and knocked him out...but these are names probably none of you heard of - this was the old cage matches with mixed martial arts fighters like the Gracies and local brawlers like Tank Abbott.

    Man I’m old
For the record though - i see the Irishman winning by knockout. If it’s emotional - Kahbib gets drawn into Connors game and fights impulsively and not smartly... hence the head games on connors part among others. Should be fun

I didn’t mean he shouldn’t keep training his stand up at all, obviously he should keep those tools sharp, but put heavy emphasis on his ground game. It’s hard to showcase your stand up off your back. He was coming off a long layoff, plus he had to worry about staying on his feet which makes your stand up game look less effective because you’re waiting for your opponent to shoot for a take down any moment. GSP was the most complete fighter IMO, way better than Kabib. Conor needs to work with GSP.

Agreed. GSP was a favorite of mine back in the day. I don't care about record or any of that. Kahbib has an insane record but i don't think his name goes up there with the greats. Connor is obviously getting his name thrown in there but i don't feel it's deserved. He makes headlines and think his antics outside the cage play a big role in that. Also plays a role in him getting an immediate rematch against Nate and possibly now with kahbib. But now im rambling. My point was i don't care about record i look at a fighter's skill set as a whole package. GSP is a good example, plus a few others. Doesn't matter where the fight goes, he's got the skills in all areas.

Joe rogan actually had connors coach on his podcast the day after the fight. I heard bits and pieces of it. Of course he's the coach and isn't going to bad mouth connor. But i think what he said was actually worse. Saying things like they DID work on wrestling hard, connor looked the best he ever had in training. You might find it interesting. Check it out
