When I was a kid (12ish) a friend of mine bought a beat up old board from an older kid in Sebastian for $500. The older kid said the board was shaped locally for Kelly Slater (this was mid/late 90's when Kelly was winning titles every year). It was years later that we found out the kid had an older sister named Kelly and that's why the board said "For Kelly" on it. He still has the board and we still rag on him to this day.
Fair play for the call out, and also fair play on the original sellers part. If you go in and buy some overpriced garbage without doing any research, that's on you.
saw that this morning. most ppl sell for more, only to be bargained down to the fair price. we've seen that on this here forum, we'll criticize n then they'll sell it for a $100 less - still making a good bit of $. didn't think it required someone to critique it with their own craigslist post. i'll say this, anything more than $100 for a softie is bullsht
also note the person trying to sell their "art" boards for $1500 n $5000. ain't nobody touchin that, unless of course it's a banksy
There is an artist here in Palm Beach or Boca Raton, she paints boards and sells to interior designers, and gets aboot $5000 a pop. She has glitterati connections. If I painted a boart, and sold it as "art", I'd be lucky to get $50.
One time I bought some soft racks off of a guy on Craigslist. I get to his house and he takes me out to this giant barn full of random shit. I pick up the racks and he asks me if I want an old surfboard he has laying around for $5. I ended up buying it. It was really similar to this but with a rounded pin tail. It was damaged beyond repair but for $5 I said F it. I ended up leaving it in the rafters of some house I lived in while i was in college.
Oh the best part was he had saved up that $500 over the course of like 3 years so that board was the world to him. I remember he would shave his head for Halloween and walk around with the board like he was Kelly. When we found out the whole story in high school, he was crushed lol.
I once got sexually assaulted by a middle-aged woman when picking up a lawnmower part in a neighboring town. I bent over to grab it and she came from behind me and grabbed two handfuls of my cheeks. I kinda liked it. #metoo
Ehhhhh because it's a soft top, most likley going to some kook, i probably wouldn't of said anything. Especially since if you don't do the research that's on you as someone else said. But it was still good looking out. Id be more inclined to say somthing if it was a knock off of some holy grail of a board being sold as the original for the original price. That'd be an understandable doop and worth a heads up to potential buyers. Spending 300 on a used soft top.... if you fell for that.....i don't even know. Your dumb i guess
too be honest, not all soft-tops are created alike, the one the OP is selling is not usually found on east coast (I think? at least in sizes over 10'), does last longer and is used throughout the islands as the surfboard of choice for surf schools. They are much more than the costco foamies New 12' foamies are 900$ and used ones go for 400-500 depending on condition (on Oahu) sometimes the surf schools literally chainsaw them in half when they are too beat up.... so others cant use them....to start their own surf school
I need to call my mom and tell her to pull the photos down from the attic. I am almost positive there are a few pics of us from Halloweens with his bald ass holding that board covered in quiksilver gear.
