No, it's an annual fall event: mid-Sept to early Dec. Have also served a chairman for our Knights of Columbus council's fund raining charity supporting mentally disabled children. Wife daughter and I have done dune planting restoration along the beach at Dam Neck that the National Aquarium runs here every few years. Will be doing so again this weekend. Hardest thing about that for me that is getting distracted watching the surf. I plan to get involved in the Virginia Master Naturalist certification and volunteer program after I retire at the end of this year. http://www.virginiamasternaturalist.org/
Is this the “virtue signaling” thread or what? Anyway, I teach elementary kids. Two days a week before school I host a basketball camp from 7:15 to 8 am. Salvation Army is my charity of choice (for feeding and clothing my grandpa during the Great Depression- LIBro doesn’t forget where he came from).
I don't think the purpose of this thread is to toot our own horns. It's a nice to read something of a more positive nature and to see that our considerations and interests involve something more than just ourselves. I'm impressed. I believe that as one gets older and the nest is empty, one often feels the need and has the time to give back.
still Kudos to all of you!!! And who knew Chavez was such a giving person Im so judgementalLOL WE need a good mix of everyone to make this forum work, even the degenerates!
And whose to say we can’t be BOTH - generous and still degenerate... it even has some of the same sounds and letters.
I was inspired by drill instructors and the old ladies who were in the Prison Society that helped me get a proper edumacation.
You actually don’t come across like that if the person isn’t a sensitive pantywaist - you come across pretty cool. Few things better than being a straight shooter. And let’s be honest, a DI is one hell of a life changing role model
