Australias First Wave Pool https://www.surfline.com/surf-news/wizard-oz-surf-lakes-international/37268
To me this is the weakest looking wave of the three recent wavepools to open. I see potential though. Wondering if changing the shape of the giant plunger to an oval or something similar to the shape of an FCS Fusion fin box could be used to focus more water at a designated bottom structure to create a better wave. Perhaps multiple plungers to create big converging peaks to the advanced peak while still sending a playful crumbler to the beginners peaks.
The cool thing with this concept is how simple it is. The giant plunger sits on a column of compressed air or water. When they blow the valves the giant plunger falls under its own weight. No major hydrolic system or train tracks. Compressed air and gravity.
I mentioned this is the other thread. All the footage your seeing is just proof of concept. The wave when finished is supposed to be about 8 ft. They used a fraction of the power of what they have in the footage. Point being is your suggestion of changing plunger shape..... gotta wait till it's at full steam dawg. They should do a better job of saying it's not at full power because EVERYONE is saying things like it's the full deal. Only reason i know is because i was bored and read the surfline article
I read it was at 40%, I think 8' is a stretch but I do think it has potential to reach Kellys wave size. We shall see...
Whether 8 is a stretch i have no idea. But that's what they said so that's where i got that from. I'll never surf it so i don't really care either way haha. Just seen quite a few people thinking that was the finished product which it's not. Id imagine it won't be finished for quite a while. If it ever does. Like you said with 8 being a stretch, i think they run into energy/power issues as they try and get it to full size
Kalani Robb bought a got damn water park in Palm Springs, CA and is building a wave pool. That’s freaking suite
