I’m not assuming anything. I said most likely if it was planned. Unless we’re going to it up watch towers everywhere with guys with rifles I don’t think it will help these situations. A shooter with a high powered rifle on a mission to kill will not be deterred by a retired guy with a pistol waiting to be ambushed

Totally fair point. Neither do I, but that is how they package it.

Point is with Trump, he is just pissing in the wind trying to solve something before he even has all the details. The guy shot 3 real cops, I highly doubt a rent-a-cop would have stopped him, either way there is no way to say for sure so why offer that? Why not just condemn the attack and move on. IMO if it isn't to fire up his base (ie the NRA folks) then it is a pretty ignorant and unnecessary statement.

These cowards pick soft targets where they know nobody is armed. If they knew there is the possibility of return fire don’t you think that would be a deterrent? If not, then what’s your solution?

There isn't a solution, people need to not want to kill mass amounts of people. This is the risk of living in a free county. Especially one where firearms are so easily available.

I'm sorry, I have been to police state countries and it would be a sad to day to see this country turn into one.

Condemning these attacks is old hat and does nothing to prevent it from happening again. We need real solutions. I’m all ears for ideas on how to prevent this crap.

Saying there are no solutions isn’t good enough to me. But I hear you on the police state thing.

There are solutions I am sure. But finding one that doesn't move us towards more of a police state or infringe on our rights is the trick. Other countries have solved this problem, but by doing one of the above.

The lone wolf thing is what makes it almost impossible. If you couold treat domestic terrorism like the same foreign born is you make it susceptible to abuse against US citizens. If they relaxed surveillance laws on "domestic terrorism" can you imagine how that could be weaponized for political gains by whoever is in power.

You could identify what would be considered "domestic terrorism" groups and censor them from the internet (eliminating their voice and income stream) but then you are opening up the door to kill free speech. I guess they could label them "domestic terrorists" so under the Bank Secrecy Act they could monitor their transactions. But again, then we are opened up to abuse and weaponization.

These solutions are really for domestic terrorism groups. I have no idea how you stop the well armed lone wolf from killing in a free country. But perhaps if you could eliminate those propagating the hate and influencing these peole you could have an affect. But man, that is one slippery slope.

There were armed guards at multiple locations of mass killings and it didn’t help. Mass killers with a plan are going to kill. They don’t just chose targets because they don’t have armed guards. They choose them based large groups gathered that they want to kill.

Which mass killings had armed guards that didn’t help? Just curious, I don’t remember. I do remember the cowardly school resource officer for the Parkland High School shooting, but what other examples do you have?

Some fair points, I guess we all just need to look after one another better and don’t let evil run rampant with no opposition from good people.

Former President Bill Clinton seemed happy to share a public stage recently with Louis Farrakhan.
Barack Obama who had to be publicly shamed into cutting ties with the stark-raving anti-Semite Rev. Wright.
And let's don't forget Al Sharpton, the Jew-hater, who has insinuated himself into the main stream Democrat party.

In America the most stalwart supporters of Israel and the Jewish people are evangelical Christians and orthodox Catholics. Perhaps this is because as people of faith themselves they know what it is like to be mocked and shunned in a popular culture that is increasingly secular, often aggressively so.

This being 2018 in America, the political left nonetheless jumped immediately to shift blame for the murders from the killer to Mr. Trump. The Washington Post ran off multiple pieces on the theme. No matter that Mr. Trump’s daughter has converted to Judaism and she and her husband are raising their children in the faith.

This irrational hatred is one of humanity’s oldest and manifests itself in murder almost daily in the Middle East. Jews are killed simply because they are Jews, as they have been throughout history. This is why millions have sought refuge in a Jewish state, Israel, and also in the religious protections embedded in the Constitution of the United States.

Columbine had a SRO on campus. Virginia Tech had campus police (5 real cops on campus at the time also). Pulse nightclub had an off duty cop working the door (he traded shots with the Mateen). I would think Mandalay Bay (a billion dollar casino) has armed security in the building. Fort Hood was a military base.

IMO armed security isn't a deterrent for most of these guys because they have already accepted they are going to die. In a society as free as ours, someone willing to give their life is pretty impossible to stop.

Most black Americans don't give Jews one iota of thanks for sticking their necks on the line during the civil rights marches. They look at Jews as their slumlord john oppressors. Ignorance.

Trump said fine people on both sides after Charlottesville. Referring to how fine the Nazi's were. Adding fuel to the fire of hatred.

Jew's don't need any right wing folk saying right wing evangelists are their best friends. That's BS. They just want Armageddon so they can go to heaven. Jews are all going to hell in their book.

    I AM PITTSBURG!

We'll still be here , loving life, fearing God, following the Golden Rule, long after even more oppressive civilizations crumble into the dust bins of history.

    Can't stop the light.

Trump is playing both sides of the fence. He is shrewd and looks to divide and conquer. In three weeks he may seal the deal. Maybe not.

Half my family love him (the rich real estate and investment dummies). The other half are afraid (smart working class teachers mostly).
