He was an interesting guy to say the least. He was in my neck of the woods a couple of times and I tried to guide him in on a couple of good days. He showed up too late both times. Easy to get skunked when you only have short windows due to tides and/or winds. Last I heard a few years ago, he relocated to the Ventura area and was doing well with his health and fitness-related business, and surfing his balls off and loving it. he was truly "a thirty-something year old grom with a fiery stoke" lol

Nah, Barry wasn't yet conceived here on SI It was rippers & shredders like Carter, Seldomme Seene, Stankasaurus or whatever his moniker was back then, Lee from VB, Kid Rocqque, and so many others I can't recall. The Fourumme exploded, it was classic.

Okay, so I read that first post.... It made me immediately think of porn story writing with the over the top descriptions and as always the large coched hero/writer like in Hustler. “This may be hard to believe but it’s true...” I’m actually impressed with the decency of the first responses! I talked about the one 8-10’mushburger wave I survived, and was immediately called on to explain in detail... while still fielding demands to see more pics of my wife.
He disrespected me once so I snapped on him. He sent me all these PMs that were really apologetic. I think he thought I was going to drive up there and beat his ass or something. Strange dude but he was OK by me.
I never met Emazz IRL, but from PMs and such he seems to be a good guy and full of stoke and encouragement, and didn't let much if anything bother him. He sure took his lumps in the "close calls" tread. Thx nynj for bumping it.. an si classic. Was hoping we'd catch some waves on Cape, but never happened. And the Carver treads & post were top shelf.. or maybe over the top for some. Dude's alright with me.
