I think they both throw from the pocket well but are very mobile too. Very athletic, both having a baseball background it's no surprise they are able to throw on the run and from many different angles. If forced into the pocket they can get the job done.
I don't know if it was his nagging back injury or he was trying to hard after watching his back-up win the Super Bowl but Wentz took a step back this year in terms of his decision making in those critical situations.
Mahomes looks like the freak that can do both as well as anybody. Curious to see how he does this weekend, things tighten up in the playoffs, see he if has another level to his game.
I think the health of the O-line is a big part of Wentz struggles and Foles success. Their line has gotten healthy the past month and they have gone on a nice winning streak. I saw a stat, in their winning streak they have face Kahlil Mack, Aaron Donald and JJ Watt.....3 wins with 0 sacks given up. That kind of protection will help make a lot of guys look good.
@ChavezyChavez Chelsea vs Arsenal on 1/19! Gonna be a big match, both of us fighting for that last Champions League spot! Go Blues!
I was hoping that the Gunners wouldn't suffer their usual Winter melt down with Wenger gone but the hammering they took from Liverpool ended those hopes.
yeah Mahomes is head and shoulders above Jackson and Watson. Extends plays by moving in (or out) of the pocket while keeping the eyes downfield and always looking to make a play. Reads his receivers and doesn't hone in on the primary guy. The kid is a lot like Wilson and Rodgers that way. Gotta wonder how much longer be can get away with those emergency passes back against the grain, no-look passes, etc. Eventually most guys will pay dearly for those shenanigans, but give the kid credit for pulling that stuff off. He's a beast IMHO if the league keeps throwing flags for hard hits, it will change the game completely. Remember how much Newton would stare down one receiver, take off running, and start dabbing after a TD or first down? He started getting clobbered for his antics, and he started crying to the league like a pyuss. He don't run nearly as much anymore. Not hitting QB's hard will open up the "dual threat" game, because the repercussions for running will no longer exist.
When I see Mahomes or Wilson, they are pass first, run in the backfield to extend the opportunity second and run option as last resort. They are smart. Reminds me of an old QB called "The Scrambler" - Fran Tarkenton. Back in the day, he was unique. Nowadays we have Rodgers, Wilson, Mahomes and maybe DeShaun Watson who get it. But look at Brady, Brees, Foles, all successful in the playoffs, and they thrive in the pocket. That's still the prototype.
Yeah Tarkenton was fun to watch. Roger "The Dodger" Staubach too. The QB slide rule works great as it exists. To protect a vulnerable QB. I guess what I'm saying is: further changes to protect the QB may redefine what we now consider "prototypical". To me, Trevor Lawrence is old school prototype. But he's looking really good.
Can't figure out how to send a PM so: Hi Kyle, Happy 2019! Hope all is going well for you and your family. This is what happens You may not start a conversation with the following recipients: Kyle. I'm gonna surf tomorrow. If anyone is looking for me, I'll be the one getting long ass rides and smiling.
Weird, been messaging with Barry with no problems. I looked at my settings and it says to allow members to message me, idk what the deal is. Rick, thanks for the invite but I'll be down south all day tomorrow. Was hoping to get out Thursday afternoon if the wind isn't too crazy; but, I hope you score some clean lines my friend. Your pal, Kyle
Watch out for road rage as you travel south sir! Maybe Thursday afternoon will be good around Corners if the wind goes NE. Keep in touch, hopefully homo Barry hasn't hijacked my PM too.
