I went up to a local brewery to get a 32 Oz "howler" refill. I was talking with the dude about what new "brews" were coming in the months ahead. He said the release were being delayed because the labels needed to be govt approved, and the shutdown has them stymied at the moment. So, it appears the shutdown has ill effects trickling into areas of commerce.

Calls into question whether govt approval is necessary for a beer label, and is this overreaching? I would think you'd establish parameters of compliance, and let people do their job, and warn/fine later for noncompliance.

Anyways, this is all political and people are getting bipartisan aggravated, so I'm in agreement that people are getting tired of the nonsense in DC.

A Sad Parallel...

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now lets see...our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free
education and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: you child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

Ocasio-Cortez passed over for influential House committee

WASHINGTON — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t get a seat on the powerful tax writing committee where she sought to push her progressive agenda of Medicare for All, free college tuition and a green new deal.

Instead, the open downstate New York slot on the House Ways and Means Committee went to a moderate Democrat, Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi, a former CPA, attorney and county executive.

Suozzi will assume the committee seat of Rep. Joe Crowley, the Queens Democrat Ocasio-Cortez defeated last year in a stunning upset.

Ocasio-Cortez sought a spot on the committee—which is usually off limits to freshman reps – with the backing of progressive groups that pushed for a slate of fresh-faced candidates to earn posh assignments.

Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib made a play for Appropriations, but she too was passed over.

“She hoped to be on it, but we’re excited to see what committees she does get,” Trent said.

 

Thank god nobody tried to fix the stupid two newbies.

 

The system sometimes works, i.e., these two asshats are going to be relegated to backbench sub-committees where they will have zero influence & which will deny them the opportunity to bring taxpayer pork back to their home districts. Which, in the case of that muslim racist she wants this kind of pork

Courageous woman to stand up to the insane ideology of the religion of peas. Defying an entire kingdom, the powerful men who rule it & a thousand years of entrenched ignorance is gutsy.

As 18-year-old Rahaf Alqunun waits in Bangkok for a decision by Australian authorities on her request for asylum, some Saudis have used her situation to question whether the male-guardianship system still has a place in a kingdom where social mores are quickly changing.

Saudi women can now drive, attend soccer matches with men and work in any field, but they can’t travel freely without a guardian. Saudi women are treated as minors in many legal matters, including marriage and being released from prison, requiring authorization from a male guardian—father, husband or even a son.
