Can't argue with that, at least they are getting paid. The college education crap isn't worth anything anymore. Tons of people with degrees driving Uber for a living.
Well you got me there lol. Those guys are the best, who am I to argue with them? But by contrast, those guys probably thought that Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell were going to be franchise qb's too lol...and I can probably find at least a dozen other examples. But no doubt, Lawrence looks like he could be the real deal eventually
Dude the Fish couldn't even win a SB with Marino lol. You don't need Lawrence, you need a young Don Shula to put out that dumpster fire haha
Yeah I bet y'all miss Joe Robbie over there. Don't you guys have a clown collaboration of Gloria Estefan and J-Ho and some other minor ballers lol
LOL I've never been a Dolphin's fan, been a Raiders fan most of my life, so I don't miss Joe Robbie or anything Dolphins. But I think if Marino would of had a good RB they might have gotten a ring. Or If they let Ricky Williams smoke herb, they might have gotten a ring. They have just been awful, unless they play the Patriots, then they suddenly know how to play football.
I said it before and I'll say it again: the parity of the league and players is too close to call. It's all about the head coach. He the straw that stirs the drink. Doug Peterson. Reid. McVay. BELICHICK. Discipline can't be underestimated, Belichick brings no nonsense. Coughlin was one of those guys, and beat Belichick twice. With Eli. Think about that
I saw ND play every snap this year. Their Defense held Clemson to less than Bama's with two starters knocked out of the game.
I watched ND get smoked in person last year by Miami, they can't hang with ACC/SEC speed. Clemson had 538 total yards and only put up 30, kinda tells you they took their foot off the gas considering they had less yards vs Bama and put up 37 (offensively).
It's pretty simple why you have a few "schools" out there like Bama and Clemson that have huge numbers of kids going to the NFL compared to others with terrible graduation percentages. Every single sports league with the exception of the NFL has feeder leagues that allow kids who want to go pro in the sport commit to the sport and play lower level. Every one of them! Do you think (putting my archy conspiracy theory hat on) that the difference is that hockey, baseball, basketball, and all the other sports in college make (relatively) no money compared to football that there isn't a feeder league? College football is gigantic bucks. And the SEC and state schools (no offense) are basically the feeder league. They don't make the kids go to school! Johnny Football at A&M never stepped inside a classroom. He took all his classes online! Come on now. He was a semi-pro athlete. As long as this is the status quo, you won't see a fair playing field in college football and you won't see a cold weather team win a championship ever again. the NFL needs the NFL DL just like the NBA DL and triple A ball in baseball.
Still lost and also the first game of the season. Not trying to rag on what seems to be your team Riley, they just don't have a good record in big games. Whenever they come up against a big ACC or SEC opponent in a big spot they don't do well. They have had much better luck against the Big 10 and Pac 12. I'm a Canes fan, I know your frustration.
I love my fighting Irish. Always a nice rivalry with the canes. Catholics v convicts was one of the better games ever, the 80's rivalry with lou and jimmy were great. I'm not making excuses for my guys. They have not played well in the big games (recently). But when you have an academic institution that graduates 98% of the players with high academic standards that they will not move from (on admission of football players), and the ACC / SEC that is looking to take NFL bound kids and play for 2 years with zero admission standards and the kids dont report to class, they "take classes online", there will be huge gaps in performance between those institutions.
Schools have been laundering booster money for generations Maybe the NCAA should just shutter its doors, probably 80% of their "student athletes" have zero interest in receiving a quality education anyways. "I ain't come here to play school." - Cordell Jones, Ohio St. quarterback
