Here's what I do know. I never noticed this until I started making Russian friends.

If you watch tv shows and movies, Russians are ALWAYS in them. Or Russia is always brought up, even in the latest Mary Poppins. Actually in Mary Poppins, Russia wasn't brought up, but the accent was clearly a 100% stereotypical Russian one.

When asked where the accent was from, Mary Poppins replies, it doesn't matter where....

My point is that, on American tv, Russians and Russia is made out to be a bad place.

Russians love Putin, and when you learn more about him and what he's doing, at least he's not letting men pretend that they are women, and let women pretend that they are men....

What ever the American tv has said about Russia... is most likely propaganda.

And I'll most likely be flagged for the post haha! I'm in the bad books with the NSA now....

You ignore historical facts that I brought to your attention. You bring up scattershot information that you claim supports your opinion, when it does not.

Again, the claim that the govt funds innovators until they are profitable is simply untrue. Complete rubbish.

You obviously didn’t read the article that you posted the link to. Your citation is based on ONE random survey from the NSF. Within said survey the NSF admits that 30% of the corps they polled didn’t even respond.

    Your citation is bogus.

Again, I want to see you support your claim that govt supports private sector innovators & inventors with the specific goal of becoming profitable.

And btw the internet isn’t considered life changing technology. Online shopping, emailing & reading about the Kardashians aren’t game changers.

Whereas the invention of the printing press is considered life changing technology.

    Yes: electricity
    No: the microwave oven

Yes: the invention of the internal combustion engine
    No: Tesla

    Yes: gunpowder
    No: the nuclear weapon

    Yes: the wheel
No: ability to land humans on the moon

    Yes: refrigeration
    No: the icemaking machine

    Yes: penicillin
    No: the flu shot

There have been very few actual life changing technologies - - there have been many, many iterations & expansions upon the actual life changing technologies. Some people aren’t making the important distinction between the two.

Never forget that the NSF is a GOVERNMENT institution run by Congress--they set the agenda. The NIH, on the other hand, although a government institution, sets their own agenda, and that because Congress persons are way too stupid to understand what the NIH tries to do. Also, the graphs are for BASIC research. Once out of that category, for example--clinical research, the cost escalates and NSF is not there (nor should they be). Another reason the share has dropped to 44%for the NSF is because a lot of researchers are sick of having politicians tell them what they have to prove. Take your favorite example, global warming, unless a researcher states in his proposal he is going to show humans are the total cause of the temperature change, they get ZERO funds. Those researches trying to give a dissenting view, get ZERO from the Deep State, or rather, NSF.
The data article you are reading is from the NSF data banks--they will do anything to advance their agenda. Ask Pocahontas, she will tell you!!

Rendering the internet as merely for email, shopping and the Kardashians is a gross over simplification. The internet has literally had an effect on almost every aspect of human life. Comparing the internet's value to that of a microwave oven or an ice maker is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard.

Russia gets shat on because they want to be a Sovereign nation and dont want to part of the EU or Globalization, plain and simple. Now Russia in doing so has done some evil corrupt things to surrounding nations to keep their sovereignty intact.
This is what Trump and Putin have in common. And you are right Putin does not put up with Liberal nonsense like Transgenderism. If you can convince someone to change their God given gender and convince others its OK, well then you can convince the people to do just about anything, that is just a part of how you collapse a society and enter it into a Globalist Dogma...its all part of the plan.

Russians support Putin. But, they do not know why or WHAT they are supporting. Putin wants to re-establish Russia to being a "super-power". It is now a regional power (that is the one and only thing with which I agree with Obama).
But that points out the failing of the human mind--memory loss. The russian population supporting Putin are either born AFTER 1989, or have completely forgotten the soviet days of no cars, no heat, no bread, no freedoms , etc. In short, they have yet not recovered form those soviet days yet, 30 years later. Humans are, in short, either insane or just plain stupid. Or just plain Russian. The Soviet era gave the citizenry no change from Tsarist Russia. Neither, apparently, has Putin era. They are used to, by millennium of suffering, DNA ingrained to suffer under despots.
That, one may conclude, makes them dangerous to the free world.

Free at last!!!!! I have to say I never thought the mods would ban me (and their email to me was beyond funny and so serious) but my week is over. I must say that I am disappointed. 2 clear examples of the media getting it wrong (Cohen and the Maga kids) and not a peep from you guys.

I like the name change. I'm free from the pit of misery as well. My email told me to "take a break for a week."
