Was supposed to be leaving for Rincon this morning, but that fell through due to lodging issues with the booking at the place we were supposed to stay, where we stayed last year. Hope to get there soon, though.

After that fell through, we immediately said screw it and booked a week for Oahu instead. We were even able to get the place we got back in August, which is way too big for just two people, but we don’t care. I’m even gonna park at Newark airport in the lot for a week because I don’t wanna have to go through the BS of getting a ride to and fro. Just excited to get there and hoping the flight isn’t cancelled or delayed this morning due to weather. Luckily it didn’t snow much and what little it did was washed away by the rain. We’ve got 6 days to work with. Have to be back next Sunday, which means flying out of Honolulu late Saturday afternoon. Also psyched to get away from this cold and nasty weather. 8 degree low tonight and I’m leaving just in time! Really excited! Oahu is always my first choice, but between the long flight and the time difference, I was hesitant to make it work while pushed for time!

I don’t really know Rincon well enough to know street names or many landmarks, but it was a condo and a bit south of Tres Palmas.

Ensenada area, near the "marina" then. It isn't much of a marina, just a handful of boats. I don't know anyone there. Anyway, you seem set for Oahu--have fun. Stay away from the meth-heads!

How mellow? Saladita in Mex could fit the bill if you are looking for a longboard type wave....you can still surf a fish there and there are a couple more waves in the area to check out as well.....PM me if you want some more info. I am interested in Sri Lanka as well but heard its crowded as H and full of Israelis who I've had a few bad experiences with YMMV

Had not thought about mexico much at all would definitely consider it but that wave does seem almost a little too soft.

Also, I did not think about the kind of crowd that would be in the mix in sri lanka but that definitely makes sense...could easily see having a bad experience with that lol.

Duuuuudddeee, I am walking around with 3/4 chub right now. Been planning this for literally months, but the flight $ finally dropped and just bought the tickets to North Island New Zealand in November. Not a full on surf only trip but we are going all over.
This year is our 15 yr anniversary. At 10 yr the wife and I went to Punta Mita, Mex which I kind of turned into a mostly surf trip the last half because of really good conditions. I was trying to work CR this year with lodging recommendations from Pumpmaster. She's good with CR but said not for our 15 yr. I do want to get to our 16yr anniversary, so not this year. Good news is she's green lighted that for next year.
Since this is such a big trip and everything we're going to see, we're taking the boys. They are old enough to know what they're into and whathey want to see/do, and can realy appreciate a trip. The oldest is way stoked to surf in a different country, and I've had him watching all sorts of Youtube vids of the areas. The youngest likes surfing too but he's actually more pumped for trout fishing. We have folks in Gisborne that surf so boards are squared away.
Aside from all of the NZ sights, planned surf days so far will be Gisborne/Wainui 2 days (fun fact, we'll one of the first DP sesh on earth both days we're there), Ohope on the Bay of Plenty2 days. On the west coast, Kawhia and Raglan 3 days, then the last two days near Auckland at Piha and Bethells Beach. I am way pumped to get to surf these areas that I've watched videos of and heard about for so long, but just about all of them have mellow areas where I can take the fam out too. The past year and a half, both kids have really gotten into surfing and being in the waves. The oldest has had green wave rides and is all about it, the youngest is nearly there. Watching them and their stoke with being in the water and the look they have after riding a wave is right up there for me. It has taken effort to not push them into doing what I love, but letting them work it out on their own. It is really cool to see that spark in their eyes when they step off the board. I wish I had discovered it at their age.
Then of course in between surf will be all of the waterfalls, redwood hikes, hot springs, rock slides, fly fishing, tour and walk on White Island volcano, Weta, caves, and all the cool things NZ has to offer.
My bad on the long post, but yeah, super pumped

Take ferry over to Vieques--there is a surf spot right in front of La Lanchita hotel. Can be good. It is on north side of island facing North Atlantic so it gets direct swell.

Pr, leave Wednesday of next week...and I threw my flipping back out Saturday. Never had back problems before, and now I’m freaked out I won’t be in a good enough condition to surf. Although it’s gotten better the past two days, I’m very apprehensive to say the least. Any swell info medical advice would be helpful, especially if it involves whale jizz

That sucks man. I’m sure there are some that will disagree, but a shot is the fastest cure. Go to an urgent care, get a shot in the butt, medically speaking with a steroid. Go in the morning as you won’t sleep if you get it in the afternoon or evening.
It takes about two days to really feel
The affects and loosen you up. Eat what ever they give you, probably cyclobenzaprine (sp?) or flexeral. Stay off it as much as possible for two days. Watch YouTube vids of stretches for surfers. After the first day you should be loose enough to start slow and easy stretching. Go gradually but be sure to stretch a few times a day. Even if it’s feeling better now, the shot will help keep it from flaring while you work on loosening the kinks out.
Once you loose again after a few days, core exercises like planks and keep stretching twice a day. Can’t say it works for everyone. It’s been a while for me, knock on wood. Hasn’t “gone out” in a while, like a couple years. From time to time it will get crazy knots, this is the fastest cure I’ve found.
Also, don’t forget to apply whalejizz. Hope it helps.

    dude that sucks balls

if Panhandler says you can get a steroidal injection them I'd prolly do that. I've had a couple of back issues over the years and no doctor has ever offered me a shot, so I don't know.

What I do know is that my doctors always prescribed oxycodone or Vicodin plus Flexoril (a strong muscle relaxer). I highly recommend this, because it's a seriously better high than weed. And the sh1t flat out works. If I were going to CR, I would bring this stuff with me just to take recreationally with an Imperial. Seriously.

Also, see if you can get an emergency session in with a chiropractor. I know a lot of people laugh about those guys, but I have personally had good luck with them. They're not very expensive, and most insurance will cover it. Can't hurt anything by going, and you might actually benefit.

So, yeah. Go for the drugs and the back quack.

^+1 on the Vicodin, flexoril combo. Got to figure how to get another script before NZ, I mean just in case I need it. That and also for the flight
Hope you get the back sorted before the trip matt
