Dude. You know and I know that neither of these 2 clowns will keep their big sloppy cackholsters shut.

As soon as they run out of money (or some other opportunity exists) they will start flapping their useless gums a la Stormy Daniels.

    Well dude, it's all relative.

I mean, what is 100%? All 2000 miles? Most of California, Arizona and West Texas have existing barrier fence in one form or another. Really, the major portion left for any type of "wall" is in the Big Bend national park and large stretches of private ranch land towards Brownsville.

IMHO he's gonna have a very difficult time bypassing all the hurdles that will prevent him from building a wall or fencing there. GW Bush already tried this. Trump won't be able to do it in the 2 years he's got left. But if gets re-elected, all bets are off. He'll get it done even if he breaks the law.

The more likely scenario is Trump using his existing available funding to reinforce existing sections, particularly in California where he can thumb his nose at his strongest detractors. Remaining funds will be used for filling in gaps in existing fencing in those states previously mentioned.

In the end, Trump will claim that he fulfilled his promise and somehow link something to show how Mexico actually paid for it.

    Most likely scenario

Agreed, but that tweet was from Trump, the man himself, who is now doing exactly what he derided Obama for, so...

Not sure if a man-made wall is really needed in Big Bend...

A perfect example of why the U.S. won't need "2000 miles" of fencing, as being spoon fed to uninformed minions by the msm.

But this picture represents a very small part of Big Bend. Alpine, Presidio and other parts of Big Bend are wide open desert bordering the Rio Grande with little to no fence whatsoever.

And when I say "little", I'm talking maybe a 4 strand barbed wire fence on Mesquite branches that were erected decades ago by local ranchers.

So when detractors of Trump's Wall go around talking about "2000 miles at a cost of $5.7 Billion dollars per mile", I just roll my eyes at their uninformed ignorance.

    It's all hyperbole

I see, however, boiling kettles with oil and tar at the top edge of that canyon might do the trick......

Endless bickering, getting thousands of landowner easements/permissions, government contractors feeding at the trough with $5 billion dollar signs in their eyes....yeah.

I'm skeptical about our current government's ability to build big infrastructure sensibly designed, quickly, within budget. I'm even more skeptical about our government's ability to maintain infrastructure and have a plan for using it effectively, especially as administrations change.

Congress likes to put big sums of money in the Army Corp's budget for big new projects so they can tell people in their district "look at this big, job creating project I brought home to my district" Sustainability and budgeting for maintenance are not news - making, groundbreaking projects so they don't like to even bother with such things.

so instead of a pre-emptive announcement to the American public that our government came to an agreement with Iran about the $400 mm payment towards military materiel that was never delivered, the Obama administration secretly delivers almost 2 billion dollars in numerous denominations on pallets in an unmarked plane to a military runway in Iran at the same time that they are releasing several American hostages.

then everything is uncovered by the Wall Sreet Journal, 8 months after the fact, and the Obama administration juggles answers for a week until they all get their stories straight.

    Ummmm....okay dude.

Drillbutt. In case you haven't noticed, son, Hollywood makes movies about this kind of stuff. These are the hallmark actions of criminal activity. Because they are hiding their actions.

You seriously need to stop guzzling the Blue Goo, boy. It's interfering with your ability to independently think and reason.

    Think, McFly. Think.

EDIT: I almost forgot the most important question:

    Do you even surf?

The fences they built during the early 2000's were hugely over budget. Maintaining those barriers is contracted privately and is equally expensive.

Although there are approximately a dozen or so different designs, they were also designed to be extremely difficult to manipulate or overcome.

of course, the smugglers are extremely resourceful and have found ways to overcome these obstacles. But not with "18 foot ladders" as so many clueless dolts love to regurgitate.

A couple of facts that are important to remember:

    1) any wall or fence can be overcome, one way or another. Nobody disputes that. But what detractors love to forget is that these obstacles are extremely frustrating for the bad guys. Back in the day, it took only seconds or minutes to illegally cross. Now, it takes them hours or days (even weeks or months, if tunnelling). That is why almost all crossings are now done in rural areas, or areas without fencing.

    2) A barrier makes our side safer. I'm seeing a lot of stories lately bashing Trump about his fence comments in El Paso. The msm is attempting to portray his statements as lies, despite being factual.

Example: around the mid to late 90's, there was almost zero fencing in El Paso until the early 2000's. There is an old abandoned copper smelter located right on the Rio Grande near the New Mexico state line that separates El Paso from Ciudad Juarez.

It was very common for border bandits to throw boulders or pull couches or some other large obstructions onto the Border Highway. By doing this, vehicles on the U.S. side were forced to stop.

When they did so, bandits would spring from the riverbank and forceably remove the car's occupants, drag them into Mexico and proceed to beat and rob them. This actually happened to a pair of FBI Agents (one of which was female). They were robbed and beaten badly.

This type of crap was happening on a weekly basis. IIRC, at one point the El Paso PD set up an operation. Sure as sh1t, some bandits tried to pull that crap on some undercover El Paso cops (who are some tough mfers) and barely made it back to Mexico in one piece.

Anyone who has lived in "El Chuco" knows all about this stuff and knows that the msm is spinning a twisted web to save their narrative.
