Starting the preliminary planning for a trip to PR in October. I haven't been since I moved to Melbourne (4 years), so it will be nice getting back down there.

I always bring a personal stash and never had an issue. TSA has totally seen it in there too. Keep it sealed and put in the checked bag or surf bag and you'll be good.

The vape is convenient but the battery can be an issue. Keep that in the checked bag.

I am going back next month 4-17 to 4-24

yea, diff buzz but it was actually really nice knowing i didn't have to go around asking. did have couple guys make that notion, but we were actually content with it. I use those pens for road trips only, never at the house or anything

Sneak it in her bag ;)

Another idea that has worked is mailing it to the place you are staying in advance. But at least coming out of Newark the TSA never has given me an issue. In Aguadilla, my bag gets searched everytime and never had an issue.

OK, so we're not going to Topsail this year. My oldest son and my grandson, who live down there, will be in Montana the two weeks we normally go so I told my wife to get a place in Buxton instead. Well, the dolt just rented a place in Hatteras not Buxton. I've stayed in Buxton about a gagillion times but never Hatteras village so I need some local skinny on the place.
I'm gonna be there in mid August and I know it's South facing. That's all I know. Does it get good? Are the sand bars comparable to the ones north of Buxton? Sharky? Places to eat?
JAYD, give me some details son.....

Id head north for surf. Not a local but spent a good amount of time down there. Actually will probably be back in the kitty hawk area around October.

Was planning for a trip this year, me and the lady decided to put indo off. We're both want to do it but want to do it right and not rush it. We were thinking maybe a CR strike mission or somthing but may end up just going down to OBX, visit family, save money, and do indo right in 2020.

Hatteras Village is chill dude. Not much difference vs staying in Buxton. 10-15 minutes to buxton maybe a bit more depending. I actually really enjoy the beaches down there and it can get really good with right conditions.

Didn’t pick up when you ar going but, basically you play the winds and swell direction. If it’s solid ground swell/tropical business, the water moves a lot down that way (N,NE,NW winds obviously). It can be really good to epic with correct winds. If it’s a Nor’easTer and it’s sweeping around the cape, the water really rips through there but with right winds and determination to stay on the peak, you can be rewarded. Really moody though and the winds can kick up and switch quick....that’s when it may make sense to go North (buxton can be moody too).

Point is, you have options and really nice beaches (can even find a gem all to your self and family beach time with only a few beach goers). Cape picks up the most swell so it could be better at Avon or Rodanthe and worth a little road trip to find mo betta conditions!!!

You will either be in buxton, driving to buxton or going nuts wondering how it is in buxton.
I have stayed in frisco and hatteras on 3 different occasions.
    Never again.
    Sorry. Facts are facts.
I have stayed in buxton 20+ times.
I love frisco and hatteras for occasional surf and you can score there a lot in august, and that is possible, but it's a short drive and makes zero sense to stay there. Buxton surf is incomparably better and more consistent.
You wake up in buxton, check it and if the wind/tide dictate plan your surf. Usually right out front.
    Cancel and re-book.

Obviously i totally disagree. I think if you want to surf constantly Buxton is the place to stay.
