Yeah I watched the press conference and he seemed very upset. That said, I'm pretty sure it was Democrats who also let him off the hook with a brokered deal. Now, nobody will ever see the pile evidence they had against him. Soooo, Yankee is right in a sense.
To make it appear that HE did everything he could so that Smollett's release and charges being dropped don't get pinned on him or so that people can say the cops did their job and so it looks like he is doing a good job too? I'm not saying he is in on it, but I'm not going to rule out the possibility given his terrible track record, who he is connected to, and the brand of politics he subscribes to.
I would agree, but why would he want Smollet to walk and then publicly bash him. I don't see reason to do that.
What if Obama (either of them) called in a favor? Does nobody find it convenient this happens immediately after Trump is cleared of collusion? There was nothing else in the news cycle to muffle the Mueller report results, so this may serve as a smoke screen to change the narrative again. This coming right off the heels of Michelle Obama's Chief of Staff calling to have the case transferred to the corrupt FBI. Hmmmm
Probably because he has to play the role of the Mayor given the mound of evidence they had against him. He can't undermine the Police work and the Grand Jury from his position.
But why would Smollet be a positive for him? I don't see it. I get the Obama factor. But they cared so much about Smollet (even though he's a b-list star) I would think they would be pissed that Rahm publicly bashed him. I'm all for a good conspiracy, but it needs to add up to make sense
I hear you, like I said I'm not saying one way or the other that Rahm had anything to do with it. I just know this, something shady happened, there was a deal made, who all was involved remains to be seen and we may never know the truth. I have never trusted or believed anything Rahm Emmanuel has said in the past, so I just find it hard to find him as genuine today, although his press conference today was believable if you take out my pre-conceived notions about him. I am simply not closing the door on the possibility that he had something to do with this or at the very least is fine with the outcome politically. It's not out of the realm of possibility that he could have supported this behind closed doors and then publicly chastise Smollett at the same time. That's what you would do if you wanted to keep the attention off of you when millions of American's get pissed off that another Democrat "elite" gets preferential treatment.
I'm not sure anyone cares about Smollett as much as they care about the narrative If an Obama interjected in the case, then it is prudent to believe the possibility of Emanuel being involved. Or not. He's kinda like Huma Abeddin is to the Clintons. Or Manafort to Trump.
I agree that something shady probably happened. I just don't think Emmanuel was in on it (which also may have pissed him off). Normally "elite" Dem or Rep get preferential treatment.
Fair enough, neither of us really know for sure, so it's pure speculation, but at least we can agree a shady deal was made.
Politicians logic. So now, given this "pardon", so to speak, Trump should immediately pardon Manafort and the entire cast of those serving him that received indictments and jail sentences. Immediately.
