Surfed la jolla reef yesterday morning with the high tide & sunset cliffs in the afternoon with a low tide. Did about 40 minutes of work too. Not a bad Tuesday!
Right now we have rain, small waves and lateral winds at 25 MPH. Crap. This afternoon wind is to change offshore with gusts up 50MPH.....again. Never ends here........
got out yesterday evening with what i had in the car - a 6'9 loehr fish. anything smaller, prolly woulda hada bad time out there. i still stayed in the inside of what was long lined stomach hi peeling waves. def fading out but was catching it a incoming hi tide. saw a couple buds out there, the LB was the go to and then there was ppl like me trying to carve out every section possible. def had a buncha fun ones along with several that i stayed on the lip/floater rides. glad to make it out there tho, been awhile
Looks fun now... not very big, but clean and offshore. Winds are building... should be nice and gusty 30mph for my afternoon session. Thinking about wearing goggles.
Yeah, this winter, actually since October, the winds have been fierce around here. Never seen a year such as this regarding wind storms, one after another with very little calm periods. No snow either....
Brought the gear to work with me for an afternoon session..... as I sit here watching condition dwindle away... UGH! Guess i'll do some yard work
Yesterday got good but it was 95% dredging lefts (I'm regular) going about 20 mph. I managed a couple of fun corners but it was challenging to say the least. If I had a jet ski or taken a log it would have been all time. The clouds got super cool again though. This morning at first light I took out my mini longboard and had an absolute blast. Every set wave was super long and would peel perfectly for a solid block. I did that about 40 times and saw a lot of dolphins so it's been a good day.
Probably did some of the best surfing I have ever done, even on a jacked up arm. Got out mid afternoon when the wind was howling offshore and the size had dropped, but there were sets in the shoulder+ range. Some of the sets were reeling down the beach. The water was clear, the air was warm and the crowd was minimal. Rode my monsta box and man I’m I falling in love with that thing. Don’t tell my girl... Got a bunch of fun ones and one ride that really sticks out. Took off deep on the peak, two quick high line pumps, bottom turn stall into a head dip, cruise out and then love tap the lip three more times. Life is all goode’. Hope the rest of y’all are scoring. Live every day like it means something!
Ha Ha I was wondering if you would see that. No still haven't had a session on the Rawson, while the water is still under 50 I like to ride my bigger boards. Wont be long though, our weather is really starting to warm up I will give you a full ride report when I get her wet
Hey what's happening? Looks like you guys been surfing. I hadn't read the stories yet. Been incredibly busy. Been So close to the ocean but couldn't get to the beach. Which will be a country song I'm going to write and send to Nashville. But I wasnt' really missing waves. Been kinda flat here. Maybe a day or two in the last few weeks. But nothing crazy. Got it yesterday. Chest to head high beach break. Got a full shack as soon as I got out there. Followed by a sick against the grain right. Rode the fish cause of the high tide but anything would work. Not too many waves for me, friggin kids were just out paddling me, but I got mine. Left when the wind killed it and right back to it. Hope yous get some. Keep posting.
I got Ocean City Maryland good yesterday. NE swell angle, west wind, medium period so the swell was beefy and peaky at the same time. Enough north in the swell to turn on the lefts. It was shallow, so there were quite a few shutting down, but if you got the right wave, there were barrels to harvest.
My song is "They Call Me The Breeze" by Skynard. Every time (almost) I get to the beach the onshores kick in with the quickness.
I've been waiting for these!! I was going to shoot down after work, but I sat and watched it dwindle away, so I did yard work. HA
Was good up here yesterday despite storm force offshores at times. Took out some extra lumber to get into the waves, which was a godsend. Not as big as hoped, but storm was too fast too late to generate a propre fetch. After this Spring we're having, if anyone needs advice on how to take off into a 40 knot head wind, I'm your guy.
