Along the lines of what Fungus said, how many times when describing a surf session do you say, "I had to take a few on the head to get out side" or "I got caught inside after I wiped out and took some on the head"? Even on smaller days as a joke? Over a lifetime that crap adds up.

Is that why people like Barry golf and fish?
    Still a bit of adrenaline

lol Could be, I sometimes golf and fish, but I don't get much adrenaline from those activities, nowhere near surfing at least.

I do neither. Those are activities for you southern boys down in Dixie.
And not necessarily the brighter ones with the golf.....

There is also the factor of being an icon making $ and being “the man” everywhere you go. Then fading away and losing significance.
That could have a heavy effect on someone suffering with depression

One of the most frustrating things about depression is trying to explain it to someone who doesn't have it. Not just oh I had a bad day so i'm a little depressed. I'm talking full on clinical depression. There is a BIG difference and those that don't have it tend to struggle with that distinction. It's one of those things, unless you have been there or are there, you really won't get it, as much as we try to explain it.

My wife gets frustrated with me sometimes when I get really low and she knows i'm going through "it". I'm sure others can relate with me on that. It's a 24/7 battle trying to overcome the thoughts and feelings. Some days are better than others but it's never fully gone even on a "good day".

Triggering bad days or weeks or months isn't very hard to do. Coping mechanisms don't always work and many of them are addictive behaviors that can be even more destructive. I don't know that there is a "cure". I think we just try to take it day by day and manage the best we can without being a burden on others. As sad as that may seem.

Very true. Just heard somthing recently that i wasn't aware of. Apparently you don't need to get a full blown concussion to suffer from CTE. Life times of small hits are causing damage. Im no doctor, just what i read some place.

Thanks for sharing DP. If any good comes of things like this is that it opens dialogue.

The brains complexity can not be comprehended. Although, science has provided basic understanding for our bodies and what’s “in our heads”.
Everyone of us, deals with problems differently whether big or small.
We don’t know what our brains are capable of, its astounding.
There’s a lot of electrical work going on in there you just hope the wires don’t loosen up along the bumpy roads.
    Life is okay.
    Get well Sonny Garcia...

CJ its unclear at this point. Could be brain injury or trouble coping with a declining body. He was at the pinnacle years ago and now its downhill. Tough to deal with.

I think he was asking what method of suicide did he attempt. I may be wrong though.
