Can cannons that shot tennis balls. We had the luxury of having metal soda and beer cans before everything went aluminum. Cut out the top and bottom of 6 or 7 cans. Keep the bottom can intact put take off the pull tab and poke a hole or slit in the bottom. Line them up and wrap them thoroughly in electrical tape. Some guys soldered theirs. Put a decent amount of lighter fluid in the bottom hole or slit into the bottom can. Place tennis ball in the tube. Put a match to the hole or slit and BOOM!
You might be able to do it today with soup cans but I'm not sure.

 

We call 'em solar hits round these parts. Just make sure you're wearing a dark par of sunglasses.... I learned that hard way.

Yes.. I remember that one. Great throwback. Had lots of toy guns as kid. Shooting dirt clods out of Daisy pop guns was always fun.. it used to annoy the neighborhood girls.. but then they had the loving arms of the likes of Barry to run to .

 

Back to things that we held in super high esteem as kids....

Holding hands with girls, kissing girls, being the first guy in our crew to get laid. That was pretty much all I thought about for a good chunk of my youth.

 

Ahhh, I get it now. I don't recall ever lighting up that way, but my memory may be a little fuzzy (I wonder why), so we very well may have done that given our propensity for being pyros.

 

Chlorine tablets and rubbing alcohol. Booooom

 

Throwing stars, slingshots, and paint cans thrown in a fire down at the creek kept us occupied.

 

If we're going down memory lane in terms of what we actually did, here's a little illustration of some of U2B and my shenanigans as chilluns, figured it was apropos for the thread...

 

One thing we prepared for but never ended up needing to fight, was rival gangs. Our gang was named CD Posse, named after the street we all lived on, Catalina Drive. We built underground forts, tree forts, and carved bow and arrows and daggers from tree limbs, using knives, which turns out were the better weapons all along. But if we ever were attacked by a Native Indian gang, we were prepared.

If another neighborhood gang came to attack our fort they had to get through the many elaborate booby traps we had scattered around the fort, for example, we dug deep pits and put wooden stakes at the bottom and covered the hole with skinny tree branches and grass and hoped someone fell in. Never happened though.

And TBH headhigh, girls were of little interest until I was around 11 or 12.. mostly were a PITA that ratted us out or had mothers that tried to make us play "nicely" with them.

Niiice man this brings back so many memories. We had a serious bike (bicycle) gang with a leadership structure and a line of succession in case one of us died in battle. Pretty serious for under 10 years old . So much time spent crafting bows and arrows, but luckily never had to use them. We would tape those AOL demo discs that came in the mail in our spokes and they were louder than hell. 10x louder than cardboard.

I can't remember the name of the gang, but I remember my nickname "ROADASS". I was at the local convenience store and an actual biker gang pulls up. We had a big "Pagans" presence in Southern Maryland at that time. Anywho, one of the guys had ROADASS, stitched on his vest, and I thought that was the coolest shiz ever.

 

I can't speak for everybody, but most if not all of what I have posted is pre-teen years. As far as "scoring" I was sticking my fingers in girls at a pretty young age. I was getting HJ's and BJ's at 13-14 years old and getting pussy at 15-16 years old.
