The taking of a human life just for convenience sake or other selfish reasons is not something I would want on my conscience.

That is the cool thing about this country, if you don't believe in it don't ever get one. But..... don't tread on others that disagree. Abortion is a protected right in this country based on the right to privacy and the fact big government needs to mind their own business.

Facts not feelings. Abortion is not murder under the US Constitution. You may feel that it is murder, but factually it is not listed that way. Facts not feelings.

    >>>Levin continued, “Remember, progressivism is about a very destructive ideology that runs counter the Declaration of Independence. We talk about natural rights. We talk about unalienable rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They reject this.”

Levin added, “When you read about the progressives, Woodrow Wilson and John Dewey and the rest, they reject the Declaration of Independence, they reject the Constitution. Their politicians and their progeny pretend that they support these things. These people in Silicon Valley, they don’t embrace our history, and they’re not capitalists. Let’s make that abundantly clear. They don’t believe in competition.”<<<

And for sure they HATE the BILL OF RIGHTS

I will preface this by I am no constitutional expert.. however I realize the US Constitution does not speak directly about abortion, and label it one way or the other. Certainly the robed fellows have wrestled this. But note this, the US Constitution does not speak about a lot of things, such as math or science. It does not tell us 2+2=4, E=mc**2, what Euler's constant is, etc. One must go to another discipline to find truth. Science defines a zygote, which is an egg at the moment it is fertilized, at conception, as life, and a new being. So termination of this being is taking it's life, so call it what you will.

Shakespeare said, "what is in a name? A rose would smell as sweet by any other name."

What ever you chose to call abortion, and spritz it with euphemisms, you are deceiving yourself.

IMHO, it is taking a life, and it stinks, to put it mildly. And in this conclusion, I've refrained from dropping the theological hammer.

    Currently, anyway.

And probably not likely to change, either. If it were presented to the SCOTUS tomorrow, I firmly believe that enough conservative judges would maintain Roe v. Wade.

But anything is possible, is it not? It would be foolish to say "it could never happen".

If the law were abolished tomorrow, would *you* still see them as "facts", or would you deem them "feelings"?

FWIW, I believe in a woman's choice. Socially, I would rather see a baby born to someone who can love and care for it, and not born to someone who will become a social burden on the rest of society. That's not fair to anyone.

OTOH, my belief is that abortion should be like politicians...there should be term limits.

However clever you may be, Cdog is most correct. His opinion is based on actual science (i.e., "facts"), while yours is extremely subjective and rhetorical (i.e., "feelings").

Crack a couple of science books on the subject and get back to us. Better yet, show us one single credible link that confirms your statements about human fetuses.

But yeah, you're right about the Constitution and current abortion law...I'll give you that.

The ruling was based on the right to privacy. And as far as taking a life, that is your opinion and why you should never get one.

His opinion is based on science (which is fine), mine is based on the law. The law does not call abortion murder nor is the fetus called a baby under the law. So every time some yankkke type says "abortion is murdering of babies" the only reply can be: facts not feelings. Change the law, than you can change the lingo.

'If the law were abolished tomorrow, would *you* still see them as "facts", or would you deem them "feelings"?'

If abortion was ruled illegal - and in fact murder of a baby - I would say that is the current fact under the law and that yes the USA deems it to be so. I would still be pro abortion, but respect the current lingo.

To say abortion is currently murder is like a leftie calling an illegal an American just because they live here. The leftie may FEEL that is the case, but per the law that is not a FACT.

Crack a law book and show me where a fetus is listed as a baby with rights. Good luck.

“To your question, I am not only pro choice but pro- abortion. First off it isn't a child it is a fetus. Second, it is a parasite, and the host gets to decide what happens. Third, every pro- adoption person needs to adopt a 13 year old black child that is being passed from foster care to foster care. Ohhh, you mean you only want the white infants? Of course you do. Finally, abortion doesn't stop when you make it illegal.”

Fungus, you make a good point about “the law” but that is not where you started. It seems your debate started with fetus=child=parasite but we established that after 8 weeks it is a fetus which is an unborn child. I get what you are saying about law and murder and frankly I agree with you b/c it’s where the courts are (except when it’s murder by third party).

The arguments are crossed up with semantics it seems...set the law aside (which you can conceptualize based on your statement above). Is aborting a fetus taking a life?

We can all have opinions and beliefs (I have an opinion and feel strongly about it, but it does not make it factual). However, the answer is yes you are in fact taking the life of an unborn child.

Is it right (or wrong) depends on your “feelings” on the matter...
