What places would you avoid at this time for surfing due to crime, disease, unrest.... Angola seems like a dream location once you get out of the city.

I really hope you don’t do that.
Messing with someone’s car is about as female as you can get.

What is odd is that the State Department gives Angola a 1 (lowest threat) but you read stuff about it and it seems like you better bring a swat team with you.

Been going to Mexico twice a year for the past 5 years and I haven't noticed any uptick in violence or general shadiness. If you are there to surf, I don't think you will encounter any major problems.

I would still pass on Nica from what I read and people I talk to. That place seems to still be teetering on civil war.

Had some friends go to Nica last month and scored, no issues. But they did do a whole resort thing where they take you place to place and did not venture offsite. Had a buddy who went to El Salvador and saw a bunch of bodies on the road side, so that I will avoid for now.

    Reunion, Cape Cod - sharks
    Hampton Beach - choads
Belmar: waves are too big, localism

I have a friend who has gone to Namibia for a work a lot - looks amazing. Angola is OK too I think now that the civil war isn't active.

Central American north of CR looks sketchy and doesn't seem worth the risk vs. just going to Panama or CR.

Atlantic City has been a no go for me for almost 30 years. The police and the judge told me to stay away. I sure they are all retired or dead but I refuse to go back. It's the principle of the thing. There's principalities involved.

VB has its perils but it ain’t all that bad. I mean, when I surf there (2-3 times a year), I have habitual spit when I surf. I refuse to let any of the water pass my palette. Besides that, there are some decent restaurants and live music. The one thing is getting there (and back). I always sigh relief once I back door the traffic there...it is a relatively safe surf destination mainly b/c the surf is weak (no reefs or rocks...unless you get washed into the jetty/careful out there fungus) and the Popo keeps everything in check (I got carted off the strip at 17 lol). For most on here, I would consider VB over Angola.

I was being a bit facetious about VB after recent posts/discussions about unhealthy ocean water quality and the 10 tons of trash and garbage left at Chick's Beach after last weekend's Memorial Day event.
However, beginning with Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, VB summer (tourist season) regulations seem to reflect a policy of dogs and surfers stay off the beach.

I’m not too sure where I would avoid... maybe Asbury park? Idk one place that I always feel comfortable and safe is the resort town of Belmar - plus they happen to have the best waves on the east coast and also the best surf shop around, Easturn Lines
