Is there anything that will make u more flexable for bodyboarding that u can do along with working out. And what workout would get paddle muscles?
If yoga is what ur supposed to do, what type?

For body boarding, a good workout is to just find a great wide open area (IE: your living room carpet) and lay on stomach. While doing this you can make cool noises like YAH BRAH.. CHECK OUT MY SPONGE DUDE!. You know things along the lines. Make sure you hold your breath for 20 seconds at a time to account for the times your swallowed up in the white water tumbling around. Stretch before and after you wont want to pull anything. Also practice stretching your leg to your back of your head for those times you go over the falls and kick your self in the back of the head rendering yourself unconscious. Besides that, paddling is a whole body workout. You workout almost every muscle. Shoulders, back, and your core upper body. Abs will help you paddle. Curls, shrugs, lateral raises, front raises, seated row, bent over row, romanian dead lifts, and lat pulldowns. Exercises of that nature. Legs are important also obviously no matter what you are training for. Do olympic exercises like squats and dead lifts along with leg curls and extensions.

I myself have been doing P90x. If you haven't heard of u should check it. I it's a wourkout program the works every muscle of your body. It has a yoga DVD also. I think the main muscles you utilize when u ride are legs and core. Yoga is iportant for flexibility especially if you want to bust crazy airs.

There are a number of yoga for surfers books out there. they include dvds and such. good for all wave riders. check out the mags or different surf webs for the books and dvds. Cross training is excellent. Especially rock climbing. Also do alot of underwater training in the pool. Get used to being under there and relaxed. Find your Zen. a device called the AB Rolller is really good at training the core.
We're as old as we are flexible. match your flexibility and strength traning with the difficulty of conditions you're preparing for. Get a longboard or paddle board and paddle on the ocean or a river or lake. One winter I lived next to the ocean and paddled 2 or 3 miles a day when the surf was flat. when spring came and all the other surfers came back to the water I was able to paddle rings around them. Huge differrence.
