Up in smoke gets me in tears laughing everytime. "Juan, don't beg me man" Don't now how many times I threw out the Spicoli " Where'd you get this jacket?" in the middle of a conversation.
Does "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" qualify? I thought both movie and book were classic. Got turned on to the book after reading Mr. Thompson's Hells Angels stuff.
HST will always be a hero to me, wish he were still alive. Hells Angels was a great book, haven't read that one in decades.
Have you ever seen this interview? I always thought HST was just an eccentric, adventurous dude but never realized he was a true badass until I saw this interview.
Yes! I stumbled upon this move one night many years ago. After watching Bill Murray as HST it made Fear and Loathing almost unwatchable. Bill Murray made Johnny Depp look like a try-hard.
Sitting down to a good stoner film with a freshly-rolled joint is a favorite pastime most stoners can agree upon. Whether watching at home on the couch or at a theater on the big screen, stoner films bring people together over their common love of the plant. With cannabis having such a heavy influence in Hollywood culture, it’s no wonder stoner films continue to be a hit.
Suite first post, for real. There's a good HST documentary on either hulu or amazon prime called Gonzo, really good stuff. I remember when people has HST quotes in their signatures around here.
Nowadays you can find all kinds of surreal stuff on the Cartoon Networks Adult Swim (Head High turned me on to Super Jail, absolutely insane) but back in the day you had to search far and wide for adult animated movies, and Ralph Bakshi was the guy putting them out, I recommend all his movies to animation fans except maybe Cool World which was big budget and kind of lame. Fritz The Cat, Wizards, Coonskin, American Pop, you can't even make movies like those anymore.
