Also had the hoodie on for my morning session. Didn't realize it would be raining, so hoodie proved to be the right call. I need to do some jumping drills or sumtin before i paddle out. Always taking me a min to spring to my feet. Stomach to chest, went north of FOlly pier. Only one out there. Had a long left, and really a couple lefts before i hit the pier. Was thinkin bout paddling back out, but i knew i'd be more late to work. Sacrificing out here. Glad i got sumtin, def shortboardable, but took the midlength fish
Spent yesterday afternoon shooting while my youngest was surfing. Waves were pretty weak thanks to bad tides. What would have been the best sequence of the day happened with these two pilings between me and my son. Threw it completely out of focus but it was a nice air in good light. This frame and the next two were the only ones not completely out of focus and he landed obstructed by the pipe. There were only a couple of waves where that pipe was an issue shooting. The detail the camera picked up of that left piling is pretty good though.
After some computer difficulties I was able to process some shots from Tuesday. Got some real gems. It was glassy and there was a patch of water that was glistening in the light. I was setting up the shots to capture the riders in that light.
yea, those look great CJ. If it wasn't for the wetsuits, i'd think it was close to summer over yonder
We had one of the best days of the season yesterday. Everything lined up. Light crowds and lots of waves. I have a court of things to question though. What's with all the electric bikes and one wheels on the beach? They are everywhere
After about a week of longboard mush, got a SOLID overhead swell. 3 day swell, 3 hr sesh each day. Got some bombs, got some cuttys...but ultimately wiped me out. Took today off. New, smaller swell tomorrow. Gonna give it a look...even though I haven't recouped (I'm 58 yo and still shortboarding as hard as possible).
Delaware this week. I surfed for a bit, got a few long runners on the twinnie, got out and shot a few of the local boys searching for warm pockets.
We had a storm and cold front push through yesterday. Winds went from north to west to south then back to off shore. Wind was about 25 off shore bland I thought it would blow it out but then the rain stopped and the sun came out and it was pure gold for almost 2 hours. I gotta learn to expect the unexpected. Sure was fun
Whereabouts? I saw sumtin bout NorthEast getting some of the best waves in the past year from IzZY. How cold it get?
15'-18' foot massive storm surf... that actually cleaned up just enough for the hardiest souls to take on. I sat this one out... still not fully recovered from COVID.
Hope you feel better LBCrew. I saw ESM claim biggest wave on the EC by Ben Gravy. I always liked Ben Gravy, but not sure how I feel about that..
Not me out, just random surfers. I had my kid, she had the day off for MLK day, but honestly wouldn't have paddled out even if I didn't. It was brutal, only cleaned up around dead low. Waves breaking way out and there were lots of monsters, most went unridden. Wind was howling. Nothing but props to those who did paddle out. It was drizzling most of the time so I blew a lot of great shots with a wet or foggy lens unfortunately. I'm up in RI unfurled, and its friggin cold bruddah. Get better LB.
We went North yesterday. Not ashamed to sit this one out. When I watch my ultra fit 16 year old get rejected and swept 1/8 mile on his first attempt I knew there was no way. While we were there very few waves were ridden by anyone. My son managed 5 rides trying to go left against the grain. He's been begging me to shoot videos and I suck at it. Yesterday I shot video and I basically got nothing. Worst of all he had one long draining tube ride with a doggy door exit that would have been worthy of some attention and the camera was totally out of focus for the whole ride. The one I missed focus on was another one like below but he was stuffed for 30 yards before coming out. Had I been shooting pictures I would have had had the shots......... These two frame grabs are actually from the same ride. This takeoff gives you an idea of how crazy it was. With the air drop he didn't have the speed on this one.
